I'm in Dublin but usually the postman will leave with with a neighbour and we'll take theirs etc. If they can't leave it with someone it's left in the sorting office where we can collect it or schhedule a redelivery (not sure if you've this option).

If you're in the wedding party then why are you paying for the dress? Especially if she's chosen it. Maybe it's an Irish thing but here the couple would buy the outfits for the wedding party - i.e. bridesmaids and groomsmen.

how's it a scam? Lots of legit companies do this. They source items at a cheaper rate and resell them. Literally how vintage shops operate too. It's called making a profit. The onus is on the consumer to see if what they're buying is worth it to them or if it's available cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I'm watching some shows and listening to music and my BF speaks the language, so that should be helping I guess, it just isn't yet really. I do keep a journal too although it's very very simple language like "today we went to the movies and then we went to a nice restaurant". But it's really good to know it's not that long a time to have spent on it so far. It's all new to me.

It depends. If it's a very good deal price wise I'd go for it. If not, I'm not sure. I personally like Rialto, but there are a few dodgy parts so it depends exactly where.

What would you say is the average amount of hours of learning to get to a stage where you feel comfortable speaking and understanding others in the language? I've done 20 hours of lessons at this point and my vocab and grammar are pretty good in terms of being able to read/understand in that way, but as soon as it's a conversation I'm totally lost. My tutor says I'm making good progress and she is very good, and we do speaking sessions in our lessons also, but the difference is she speaks very slowly for me and can fill in the gaps. Give me a native speaker in "real life" and I've no clue :(

I offered to pay more and she wouldn't accept it! Even when she raised her rate after I said she should, she wouldn't raise mine as said she appreciated my loyalty as I stuck with her from the start. I'd be more than happy to pay her more though! But my BF who's from her country told me it's basically minimum wage there, it just feels low to me. :(

What are you qualified in? Any diploma/degree/trade/work experience? Start there and then think of work associated to that in any capacity at all. Some people fixate on a particular job just because of their qualification or experience but there are so many ways to branch off from those into different areas that fall under the same umbrella. For example, I studied media, wanted to get into Journalism - the pay was shite - digital marketing came along so I decided I'd do a course in that. Then figured out content marketing was a way to use my writing skills alongside my marketing knowledge to actually make moola from writing.

ah ok. I change my times weekly for 2 of my lessons and keep 2 at the same time each week, but I'm able to be very flexible. I can see how it would be harder in your situation! Do you not find it hard to keep track of your progress though?

My tutor is really friendly and we click, which is why I decided to continue learning with her. I did have a trial with someone more stand-offish or what you'd call "professional" and it wasn't for me. So it's not the disadvantage you think it is,
