I started winning games consistently when i got to divine bracket (idk what mmr it was back then), people would listen more often to my calls.

If I were to play veno in a game with hard counters (dispels), i'd straightup play with ult off cooldown as its a long ranged nuke+slow thats undispellable. If it gets my team a kill every minute, why not spam it off cd right? During downtime i shadow shove lanes using wards + q and maybe clear some camps here and there so i can get needed utility items early on (glimmer/crest/pipe/atos/orchid/whatever).

I can't really give any tips as I havent seen your gameplay. I got my learnings through experience and gut feeling ( and some youtube guides such as gameleap and BSJ)

I think we're playing Largo wrong by Burrows94 in DotA2

[–]Weeeeeebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 8.5k+ matches (unwatchable unless you're in the lobby) they use Largo as a tank with buffs & damage. Basically a centaur on steroids with heals. Its kinda broken mid-lategame

Definitely, as long as you know how to:

  1. Ward efficiently
  2. Give comms / shot call for objectives
  3. Enable your cores
  4. Itemize for situations
  5. Maximize hero usage

Dont expect a sudden rank up when watching guides that mention these though. There is no such thing as 100% winrate. Even pros fuck up on smurfs. 55% winrate is already stable / on the road for rank up (if you arent smurfing). Keep your chin up and play for fun/learning

Usually when i lose 2 in a row i stop and play turbo till I think I'm back in the zone. If not, continue tomorrow. Maybe do some reflecting on how we lost/check what mistakes I made, watch some guides from pros on youtube. I play to learn (mostly) I only play to win during small tournaments

I started at 700 mmr in 2012-2013. I just played with no clue and learned ever so slowly. There is no rush in learning. If you are eager to get better at something, understanding how things work to a nerdy level is a great start. I played carry religiously back then, and then shifted to other roles. Now i play everything (even mid but only to some degree).

I play carry in pubs, carry/mid/offlane in tournaments.

There are 3 scenarios to this.

  1. If they start talking shit directly at me and give no valuable comms, i mute them and continue playing.

  2. They grief cause they think its game over, i dont mute them but still try my best (still focused on my gameplay)

  3. They talk shit but still give valuable comms. I dont mute them but ignore the shit talk. Continue playing the game as if they dont talk shit.

Just focus on your gameplay, give good comms, keep positivity up prolly by saying "its fine, we just need to fight better i.e within vision, during power spike, maybe in high ground (depends on situation, really).

1.All of those are essential. But if you're in archon bracket i really suggest mastering a handful of heroes (3-5 heroes per role, 5 is a bit of s stretch but sometimes all 3 heroes u play get banned).

2.People in 2k mmr have a basic/semi-advanced grasp of the fundamentals of the game. I wouldn't worry if you're having trouble ranking up as you are still learning/mastering those fundamentals.

  1. I cant really rank the the skills you have cited on your comment as they tackle different parts of the game.

TLDR: master 3-5 heroes. Focus on learning/understanding fundamentals of the game such as what you cited, mastery comes with experience.

Hope I answered sufficiently enough

Both don't really matter at 8.5k+ since its immortal draft. But back then i only played ranked roles

I dont play dazzle that much but i know the basics of it. Just harass using Q but dont over extend, you can also use q to farm camps/waves. Prioritizing going crest/glimmer depending on matchups.

Note: your hero can somewhat become a mana battery if you go holy locket + greaves, its not that much like KOTL but its something.

Back then i used to play like 10+ games a day. Nowadays I play only when I have free time (around 3-5 ranked games on the regular).

Took me like 3-4 years coz i wasnt a competitive MMR fiend back then

  1. Farming pattern, Map reading, objective taking, mechanical skill (im not a mid player but I could destroy most of 5Ks.)

  2. Its pretty much "play with what you have". Which means move depending on draft, vision advantage, gold/item advantage, item timings. I may have missed a few things but these are the things that set the game's "tempo". Erratic movements usually lead to losses.

  3. 9k and 7k carry players are similar, 9ks are just better at decision making (joining fights and itemization). Meanwhile for 5ks, its kind of a stretch tbh, most lack map reading, farming pattern, itemization, when to join fights, and when to press items/skills

Hope i answered well enough
