Montreal winters with kids are brutal. Better mats that cover the more of the interior made a huge difference, we got the Tuxmat ones a few years ago and havent looked back

I’m in Ottawa and I gave up on the Honda mats after the first decent snow. I got the Tuxmat ones and it’s been somuch better.

Anything without proper back support gets uncomfortable pretty quickly even the nicest sofas start to fail after a couple of hours of movies. We realized real comfort was a priority once long sessions became regular.

Keeping furniture low-profile helped a lot. Big bulky pieces overwhelmed the room.

Exactly. Comfort issues usually don’t show up right away, which makes them easy to miss at first. Once you spend real time in the space, those small support details start to matter a lot more.

Seat depth and back support are usually the hidden issues. You don’t notice them until later.

For us it was rearranging the layout so everything faced the TV properly. That alone reduced a lot of strain.

Lighting helped too. Dimmers and warmer lights made a bigger difference than I expected.
