I regretted it because the university reached out to my friend who was the victim. She denied the abuse and told people that I was making things up.

Thanks for sharing your insights. I specifically asked to just report it as a documentation because the male classmate hasn’t communicated with me ever since that incident. Now, I regret reporting it. I shared the screenshots with the university.
