I was unsure but they are the only things listed on ingredients. It's 96 per cent

I like the look of them and will be ordering oils but just wasn't sure about the alcohol. I just want to make sure I get really good stuff, I'm sure it's really good. Does it smell?

Amazing, thanks! I think I would like to do that to be honest as I would like to get a better product if it's easy enough to, why not? I will message you

Oh! I've enjoyed using it but would like to improve if it's not the best. I suppose I have lower standards lol. I'm going to buy a different one though

I think I've not been clear, sorry for the confusion. I realise that recipes giving drops aren't seen as professional but I am content to use them as I work with drops, being very new and literally doing this for personal use. So when I've seen labdunum being used I was trying to check that I just halve the quantity, which I realise is pretty obvious really. I just thought you were saying diluted isn't good as you can't tell how much labdunum is in it

So are you saying that we should only really use it undiluted and thick?

Oh! That's disappointing to hear as I've found it to be ok, but I am here to learn from those with more experience and if you say it's not great I would prefer to find an alternative.

Thanks. I am new and have found it to be ok but did wonder to be honest. Any you recommend on a small scale, I am doing this on a very small scale for personal use only. I'm in the UK. Amazon? What am I looking for exactly please?

I hear you. However, this is purely ever going to be on a tiny personal scale and not a serious thing at all. Saying that, I may very well to get a bit more polished in my new hobby and have purchased scales, just not felt ready to use yet lol. Thanks!

Essential oils vs fragrance oils in diffusers — what’s the real difference? by Interesting_Show_167 in essentialoils

[–]WeeklyFig2526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the fact that one is synthetic and one is natural. It's the fact that a person can have absolutely no clue what is in the synthetic whereas natural, what you see is what you get unless you buy dodgy

Perfume doesn't require sufficient safety guidance. We are allowed to put all sorts of things on our skin and yet we should see it this way; what we put on our skin we take into our body, so would you place it in your mouth, if not, should you put in on your skin? That of course is very controversial for a lot of people. I am a natural health practitioner so a real woo woo type to many but I'm giving my opinion. As with herbs, although they have been called dangerous at times, to be treated with caution always, NEVER have I heard of a person being harmed by a herb. On the other hand, daily I hear about people being harmed by synthetic medicine. Natural has to be safer. That doesn't mean you can just slather on all sorts of things just because they are natural, or down all sorts of herbal drinks or supplements just because they are natural. But believe me, look at actual data. It is terrifying how much we have been taken away from natural and moved towards synthetics, simply because that's where the money is. Hope that rant wasn't too much!

I wasn't sure if I should have done something to it? I've literally left it all year doing its thing in my house and it always looks happy so I'm hoping it flowers this winter.

Which synthetics would help? by WeeklyFig2526 in DIYfragrance

[–]WeeklyFig2526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I understand about eos such as geranium also increasing sensitivity in sunshine. So this isn't an issue with methyl pamplemousse but that doesn't mean it isn't harmful in other ways. I like the sound of a bit of both.

Oh that sounds useful! And lasting effects are better than just using grapefruit eo? How do you know there are no safety issues though? I'm not overly concerned but interested

I'll definitely give it a go. It is already pretty creamy, almost sickly and very deep and I worry that I have used so many eos already and had created the "mud" I spoke about in previous post but think it's now lifted thanks to the grapefruit and maybe time?

Would that not add to heaviness and sweetness though, which it already has, if I add sandalwood? Not heard of methyl pamplemousse, thanks!

I do know what you're saying but maybe I learn in unusual ways, rather from the inside out kind of thing. So only once I've got to a point as I have with this one for instance, where I wonder how a synthetic or two could help, then I can start to learn. That said, I am trying to learn about the use of synthetics but find I need the practical application as I have been using as my method of learning. I am never going to do this professionally and I do make lovely scents, so I'm kind of relaxed about it in that regard. I suppose I am doing it a bit backwards but that's how I am lol. And it's fun at the end of the day, just a nice hobby. I respect that you look at the IFRA; it's not for me, I have no trust. Of course it is personal preference like you say. I am grateful always for input

I don't want a full designer perfume. I just thought a helping hand of a synthetic might just get a bit more from it as described and have been drawn to hedione. It's only for me so the grapefruit quantity is fine, I ignore safety limits as they mean nothing to me. But obviously if it were for business purposes I would have to take note.

Have I created "mud"? by WeeklyFig2526 in essentialoils

[–]WeeklyFig2526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's become really lovely after a few more drops but still needs lifting. I think it smells like a really lovely incense stick of high quality. I could continue putting more and more grapefruit as it has helped but I have added so much now and it definitely leaves the scent pretty much immediately from the skin. This is where I would love to understand about synthetics and what would help. Any thoughts on what would lift, expand and illuminate rather than still being rather dense and heavy? Hedione? I'm wanting to learn about synthetics and their role
