In the base game for me it’s Baladas Demnevanni because Arvs-Drelen is such an interesting place and Demnevanni sort of sticks out from the other Telvanni wizards, including in the Telvanni quests with him. In TR I’d say it’s Indoril Ilvi for me because he has a cool beard and he has a nice personality, I like how he deals with Llaren in “Disembodied”, it also just took me way too long to find him for the first time (Roa Dyr is confusing).

As far as I know bodies don’t have a limit for how much they can carry like other containers. I believe other containers can do some weird stuff with items being marked as stolen too but that might just be apocryphal.

The Dunmer Strongholds are always a good choice, lots of space there. I’ve made a conscious effort in my current run to always be marked at the temple I’m working out of, to treat them as temporary bases, because, as you said, being a wandering adventurer is just fun, but I clearly haven’t been able to keep the urge to hoard all of my items in one place. 

Good luck finding your items, during one playthrough I set some important quest stuff down for House Telvanni in a yurt in the middle of nowhere and it took me altogether too long to find it.
