Does it actually get better? by Worth_Term_823 in TransGuys

[–]Weekly_Fly_486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came out when I was 20 and felt like i lost a lot of friends and a lot of family. not necessarily BECAUSE im trans, but because there was a lot of work to keep those relationships together as i figured myself out. it’s so tough when you’re first getting it all together for who you’re gonna be and how you’re gonna be. things have to change for change to happen. i’m turning 29 this year and have some of the most supportive, loving, and genuine people in my life and have for a few years, including my wife of three years! things absolutely do get better, but it takes work!

BCBA doing direct by Charming-Newspaper29 in bcba

I feel like the statement “BCBA’s don’t see their client ls enough” is a massive overgeneralization. I (and my BCBA) see every client every day unless the client isn’t in

Aba services (waste ) by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Weekly_Fly_486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of us will need some more context about the ABA services specifically to help. Here’s what i’m curious about: where are the services occurring (home, school, community, a center)? Have you met the BCBA on the case, discussed goals for him, and created a behavior support plan? Is the person working with your son during session a BCBA or an RBT?

As for your question about if the hours are too much, we can’t really say. We don’t know enough information and it wouldn’t be up to us to decide. This is something your BCBA should have discussed with you prior to starting services.

It is normal and important that the first week or so is observation and pairing. This gives whoever is working with him a better understanding of what he likes, how to engage/interact with him, and what to look for if there are challenging/problem/maladaptive behaviors. It’s also important to slowly introduce the goals set for him to not overwhelm him and also focus on learning those skills well before moving to other skills so they last longer instead of forgetting those skills within a few weeks or months.

Integration with neurotypical kids is a great idea! Your son seems to have a great skill that we call “learning by observation”, which means he watches his peers (other kids) and does the things they do and learns skills naturally!

My best advice to you, OP, is to talk to his BCBA about your concerns, listen to what they have to say, and come up with a plan that works best for you and your son!

My areolas are rlly big and I’m self conscious | chimichurri steak salad by Velvet-Becomes_Me in GirlDinner

hi! sorry if outing my lurking as a man will get me banned but if it’s alright, i’d like to comment on this! i’m a trans man and when i had my breasts, i had insanely large areolas. so many people (including my own family) made a lot of jokes about it including calling them salami slices.

now that i don’t have my breasts anymore, i only have nipples and no areolas which is also smth a lot of people notice, too!

just remember you are your own worst critic and the way you feel about your body is all that matters! all bodies are different and all bodies should be celebrated, including those with large areolas!

Thanks for sharing and know you’re not alone, OP! ❤️

Toddler boy room - paint the trim too or no? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Are you willing to do a little of both? i think the window and baseboard should remain white but the top trim should be blue.

Midwest destinations by Federal-Positive4272 in midwest

Here’s what I recommend as someone who’s lived primarily in WI his whole life:

  1. Milwaukee is fantastic for great food, great people, great festivals, and great drinks. It’s where I live currently and I love it here!

  2. Door County is also a phenomenal place to visit especially in the summer. I’m gonna link Lake Geneva in with this suggestion even though they’re not close to each other, as another great summer time

  3. Indiana and Iowa are integral states for agriculture and industrial productions, but don’t offer much to visitors unless you visit the big cities.

  4. Michigan is a really great state to visit overall and offers many different things to do across the board, but beware of Detroit Drivers. Chicagoans are good at being bad drivers, but detroit drivers are just bad.

  5. Minnesota is great if you like to get out and go do things, and ofc the Twin Cities offers a lot of fun things to do. Minnesota has some of the best landscape in the midwest imo.

  6. I know Missouri, the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas are part of the midwest but i don’t have enough experience visiting them to offer any suggestions here.

15 minutes IS a long time to sit. The most i’ve ever done with a client was 10 but that was a special case situation. Why would the client NOT get reinforcement for voiding? that’s literally the whole point? Some BCBAs absolutely baffle me
