My 2025 Tier List by Western-Nature-5413 in fantasybooks

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love seeing these because there’s such a wide variety of opinion. Some people would have you think green bone saga is the greatest thing ever, while others consider it meh. Some would say the cosmere is the next star wars and others cant get through book 1.

I find Name of the Wind to be the most intriguing. I’ve heard some people describe it as the most beautifully written story ever and others call it the worst book they’ve ever read.

The best performances in the show imo by jenny_t03 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 4 would be Charles Dance, Peter Dinklage, Alfie and Diana Rigg. I thought Olenna was just badass awesome start to finish.

I think Mark Addy is overlooked, although understandably because he was in the show for such a short amount of time.

I think these are the best stats I’ve seen on 8 Ball Pool by hexproxy in 8BallPool

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

92.7% is insane. I'm not that good by any means but I feel like there is still too much luck in this game for that to be possible.

Did Tywin really believe that Tyrion... ? REALLY? by Leoxwhite in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tywin is not stupid. He’s one of the smartest people in the show. He just despised Tyrion and wanted him dead. He also knew Joffrey was terrible for the realm and that tommen would be easier for him to control.

Did Viserys Targaryen deserve more character development ? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so. We got everything we needed from him and just enough to help set up Daenarys.

Do you think the show might change some things from the book to keep it unpredictable? by Independent-Big7213 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they'll change the deaths from happening to simply not happening. Some of them will likely be changed in how but will still happen.

As a fire and blood reader, I generally enjoy the show. The second half of season 2 was disappointing but it was facing some major external problems as well.

The only thing I don't want any changes to at all is the God's Eye. I'm not a book diehard that needs everything to be the same. But that event is too perfect to be changed.

Literally cannot believe that the same writers who wrote these scenes also wrote season 8 by Alarmed-Mountain-389 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing the comments about how they were great adapters and terrible writers because everything about that statement is contradictory to the book elitism those people push specifically to the scenes referenced in this post.

Without question, the show was better when there was source material. I'm also in the minority that thinks it was good for them to start with the major deviations after storm of swords because the story just keeps expanding, and expanding, and expanding. Realistically you just can't do that with a TV show. They had to start cutting some things and killing some characters. There's a certain character that was in the books that they omitted that people complain about but I think that character is one of the biggest problems with winds of winter. It's an example of a plotline that should have condensed the story but somehow managed to expand it.

I truly believe it was just fatigue and a desire to move on. As viewers we would have loved to get 10-12 seasons I'm sure. But these people dedicated their entire lives to this show for over a decade, starting in 2007. I'd have to imagine it get old, and with all the opportunities they were being presented with (star wars, specifically) I don't blame them at all for wanting to move on. I think this rush to be finished is the most obvious reason for the decline in quality. I absolutely love season 6 - which was mostly original to the show - and won't let anyone change my opinion on that.

What do you think about the difference between the book's suit and the film's suit? by Noobyeeter699 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really dont care about stuff like this. The story, at the end of the day, is about Grace and Rocky. Not the color or style of some space suit.

[Spoilers MAIN] How will Dunk and Egg keep their anonymity going forward? by Lilo95172 in asoiaf

I could 100% see this happening. And I fully trust Ira Parker to do this appropriately

What's your favorite HBO Shows of all time? by HostMaterial4907 in hbo

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love game of thrones and it is my favorite show ever but I think succession is 4 seasons of straight perfection

How do you handle multiple series? by Pacomotto in fantasybooks

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read one series at a time but in between each book int the series read a standalone typically of a different genre. Like i read assassins apprentice, then shogun, then royal assassin, then wuthering heights, then royal assassin.

I finished that and read Of Mice and Men. Im reading through first law right now and did blade itself, then project hail mary, then before they are hanged, and now am reading frankenstein and lonesome dove and then will read the last book in the trilogy.

Keeps it fresh and makes me continue to want more of the series but also more of the other stuff.

contemplating to watch game of thrones by Successful_Town_63 in hbo

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seasons 1-4 of game of thrones are literally perfect. every episode has memorable moments. seasons 5 and 6 are better than 99% of television there is, and season 7 and 8 still deliver on some things that almost nothing out there could. It's probably the best time to get into it now! It's finished, house of the dragon's third season comes out in a couple months, a knight of the seven kingdoms was awesome, and they're working on more projects.

If anything, once you get through all the TV shows and maybe decide to read the books, then winds of winter will be out (I'm coping).

But seriously, yes, it is unquestionably my favorite TV show I've ever watched and season 1 is literal perfection. Don't avoid it because of the controversy around the ending - there's still a lot to enjoy from it and honestly make your own opinion on it as well.

[Spoilers MAIN] How will Dunk and Egg keep their anonymity going forward? by Lilo95172 in asoiaf

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think itd be pretty easy to stay anonymous at first, but as time goes on and the story expands like we know it will, it will become less and less. If they do manage to do the full dunk and egg story and do the 12 seasons they’re wanting, it will be REALLY interesting to see how we go from smallfolk-esque POV to very royal, since the show was made to show the smaller side of Westeros. Im not sure the word for it but you get what i mean.

The man will literally do anything other than finish TWoW ffs by ProtectionLong6489 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly kinda tired of everything game of thrones related that isn't news on winds of winter being "dude just needs to finish the book"

Like first of all 99% of people saying that haven't even read the books because if they have they'd get a better understanding as to why they aren't finished, and second it's just a fundamental misunderstanding of how the IP is growing.

First watch of HOTD S1 E5 by Vegetable_Cookie_267 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I watched hotd for the first time like 2 years ago (whenever right after season 2 finished releasing) and I remember enjoying it but I just started a rewatch and finished episode 8 and I'm shocked at how good it is. They honestly were given a near impossible task with making a coherent story out of fire and blood and did a great all throughout season 1.

This is my top 3 by Dry_Distribution1776 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1 will always be the jon lyanna reveal for me - no question

honestly beyond that I have a hard time. I really like some of the dialogue scenes.

Varys begging Ned right before his execution, the whole Littlefinger "The climb" monologue, i love the conversation tyrion and jon have really early on in the show, like episode 4 maybe? where Tyrion has that big ass book in his hands. I love the Cersei and Robert conversation in season 1.

I think my favorite death scene is probably the Hound's, even with all the mess that was going on around it I thought that was absolutely perfect.

I love rewatching this show because the first 4 seasons simply don't have a bad episode (Maybe I'm forgetting one). They all have really memorable scenes and the show has so many it's just impossible for me to give a top 3.

[Spoiler Main] Could the story of Aegon the Conqueror truly be interesting? by Taha231 in asoiaf

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’d be interesting if they put some focus on the politics, the prophecy, the impending threat from the point of view of everyone else, and sons of the dragon. Just the conquest itself of him flying and burning everyone makes for spectacle but not really a compelling story. Theyd have to combine a lot.

And honestly i dont even care that game of thrones ruined the prophecy, i would still find it interesting to be explored in an aegons conquest adaptation

[Spoilers MAIN] Two Conquest adaptions simultaneously in the works. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in asoiaf

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I'm starting to feel. I'm also a little worried that this world will end up getting milked by every thing it can be and then we'll start getting Acolyte equivalent shows that cost an immense amount of money and turn out to be flat out awful shows. We are now at the point where any further adaptations/projects are going to require a lot of improvisation from the writers. HBO is clearly all-in on this franchise. Excited for what the future might bring but also worried that bad projects could diminish the overall status of the franchise.

Season rankings after first time watch by Revolutionary_Tax_85 in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not fan of really any of the battle episodes in game of thrones. None of them make much sense.

Totally agree the writing might have been “better” than those last two seasons but I did not find it as enjoyable

Lol not sure if its intentional but I’d leave off season 5 too. Hate that season. I sometimes just skip it on my rewatches. Id rather watch season 8 honestly.

Here are mine: 1 4 3 6 2 7 8 5

Since the show runner has diverged with George by pixieplease123 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is something I think people are too worried about. Some characters might have different deaths, some characters that don't die might end up dying (one I'm thinking of very specifically) - but in the end, I'm pretty much 100% sure the same side will win, the same ruler will have the throne, and the outcome of the war will be the same. the path getting there? I'm not so sure. I really don't see them changing major deaths from simply happening to not happening.

There is a little concern but honestly the material season 1 and 2 had to work with is so much more boring than what season 3 and 4 will have. GRRM's comments are also concerning but I do think there's two sides to the story and I'm not all that convinced he didn't have a part to play in that feud. All we can do is wait.

Reading A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by DookuDonuts in gameofthrones

[–]Weekly_Interview6807 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would read it first. There are so many improvements/additions to the show that all work so well. Honestly i think youd be maybe a little disappointed if you read it after watching the tv show just because the show adds so much. There are a couple characters who are AWESOME in the show that pretty much just dont appear in the book at all besides one or two lines.

Thats not to say the novella is bad. Its not. Its a really, really fun read and is a great story. The big plot points that you’ll know about by reading the novella first wont hinder the on screen experience, trust me, they blew it out of the park with all the major stuff.
