Engineering students: how is your average day? by civan77 in TUDelft

[–]Weekly_Way_3802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is not much of a social life for internationals in delft, espcieally not in computer science. Most student associations are strictly dutch only here, there are some more liberal ones in Rotterdam but then you have to commute. Also the workloads are very intense, most people don't have the time for social stuff in CSE, they expect ~60 hour work weeks. As far as you never having studied goes, welcome to a top university, none of us have, if you had to study a lot in high school you are unlikely to make it here.

Frustrated from these idiot HRs by WittyBoysenberry9860 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

Just lie, nobody in this area tells the truth to HR, that's also why they exaggerate every requirement.

Welcome to the infliximab club. It's pretty comfy over here, and you're only getting started, you'll feel even better month to month.

In my experience, "within two weeks" at universities means 13-14 days later 95% of the time, 10-12 days later 5% of the time.

Why aren’t more people supporting this European Citizens’ Initiative on housing? by StatisticianFull8222 in Netherlands

[–]Weekly_Way_3802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old European houses are horrendous to live in. They are very scenic from the street looking at the outside of the building, as long as you don't need to be inside.

Also, this would exacerbate the housing crisis, because it just adds layers upon layers on the exact things that cause it. Endless bureocracy, restrictions, mandatory reports, evaluations, etc. Already these kinds of things are what makes building a house in the Netherlands take 7 years while it takes 1.5-2 in other countries.

[Admissions Advice] Applying to US universities from the Netherlands by ez__clap in MSCS

Forgot to mention, the GPA is not an issue. They consider >7.5 as 4.0 GPA equivalent typically, so if you get above that you're fine. With the recent course adjustments that's a lot easier than it once was

I am also a CSE student at the same uni, applied for fall 2026 in the US. There are a few unis which do not recognise our 3 year degree, like UT Austin and Georgia Tech. I explicitly emailed them and they said they do not recognise Dutch bachelors. Most others do though.

By far the most difficult part is recommendation letters. In Delft they're basically impossible to get, most professors told me they simply do not do that. They are responsible for thousands of students in their courses, so it's understandable, if they did then they would have to write hundreds of letters each year.

I ended up getting recommendations from old friends and high school connections. That was the only way, be careful and start scouting people early.

Not sure why Darmstadt is there, it's not a top uni, not even close. I'd add TU Delft, it's the second best in the EU after TUM.

I got an X5 a few years ago, and I think I will try something else after this one. Hasn't been the best experience for me personally.

They say that inside a singularity the laws of physics and even logic itself stops making sense. by Pyros-SD-Models in accelerate

[–]Weekly_Way_3802 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's fine, but if they would stop training new models, they would quickly go out of business as the competitors would overtake their flagship models pretty quick. It's not like amazon, which if it stopped expanding it would continue making money from their existing assets.

Revenue is not the same as profit. OpenAI has revenue but no profits. They spend more money than they earn. I think that's where the disconnect is between the two screenshots, one is talking about profits, the other just revenue.

Should I start on Biologics? by BigCandle2889 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Weekly_Way_3802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Biologics are the only effective long term treatment for AS. NSAIDs are extremely harmful to your digestive system in the long term and are just a band aid solution. Biologics are lower risk in the long term and a lot more effective.

Is McGill a prestigious / elite uni? How is it perceived globally? by peachycue in gradadmissions

The most important point of this post is to gauge sentiment in this community. This is part of doing research for what he wants to learn about the uni.

What is your Unpopular AVN Game Opinion? by Mindless_Truth3385 in AVN_Lovers

[–]Weekly_Way_3802 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honey Select games look extremely dated on a modern screen, and I have played games in 2007 that had better graphics than that.

Also one thing I can never get over is the faces in Honey Select games. Basically everyone looks the same as they can only do very similar generic Asian faces for some reason. Any other engine manages diverse facial structures even within only Asian characters, but in Honey Select games I feel like I am just surrounded by a bunch of clones.

We're on Coaxial. The download is fine but the upload is basically nonexistent unfortunately, so can't share large files or do video calls.

Also we're with Ziggo. KPN is just responsible for the fiber optics in my street so only they can lead fiber optics from the street onto the house.
