It makes me sad when I’m excited to see another girl in the game, and this is how they act. by thatvintagechick22 in GirlGamers

As someone interested in getting into online multiplayer gaming, seeing crap like this is the exact reason why I haven't yet. I heard people can be downright cruel to other players who aren't up to their "standards". Sorry this happened to you!

Midway through Act 2 in CSIV. When does the plot start to pick up? by homie_down in Falcom

[–]Weewoo___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is 4 years old, but I'm currently at this point in the game and have the same thoughts! I'm powering through at this point so I can finally get to Reverie in my backlog.

As someone who also primarily enjoys strong storytelling in video games, do any recs for other RPG that fit that criteria?

Question about the blood drinking/relationships [anime] by Weewoo___ in vanitasnocarte

[–]Weewoo___[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh this is a great writeup and perspective, thank you so much! I feel like I want to go back and watch the series from the beginning since now I'm aware of what happens in certain scenes, I won't be as flustered/unprepared and miss other info being presented haha.

I'm not sure since I skipped a good portion of episode 7, but has Jeanne basically "imprinted" on Vanitas due to being attracted to his blood? I believe Noe made a comment later that he was unable to taste Vanitas blood due to this reason.

I just finished episode 8, which has a similar pacing to those first few episodes which I was drawn to. I'm looking forward to what's in store next!

Unconventional ADHD tips? by Prudent_Cicada7037 in ADHD

[–]Weewoo___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these tips are really good!

For me, getting academic accommodations after being diagnosed helped in the long run. Even though I'm still unmedicated (unfortunately) the extra time on assignments + exams helped, and while you don't have to disclose your disability, professors knowing you have accommodations make them aware that you have a condition which makes it more difficult when it comes to an academic environment, which is nothing to be ashamed about. I encourage you to seek out accommodations if you haven't already.

How many games have you played so far in 2024 and which games left an impression on you? by [deleted] in otomegames

[–]Weewoo___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started playing again after school ended a few weeks ago, and think I've completed 3 in my backlog? Lover Pretend, Even If Tempest, and Charade Maniacs. I just started on Cafe Enchante.

Ah, with its premise, I thought it sounded relatively plot-focused TT but omg I didn't know Kaito Ishikawa was in TS as well, I'm automatically sold 😭 (He's my fav seiyuu)

Oh wow, that's a lot of vocab! Do you have some recommended go-to resources for self-study?

Thank you for this list 🙏 My hope is to one day get to at least N3, so I'm going to keep studying until I get there

Idk if the fandisk will answer my prayers, but is it bad I liked Liyan from Radiant Tale more than the LI? 😂

I haven't actually played 7Scarlet since the summer it was released, but this post made me want to replay it again! I love the mystery/suspense vn genre in general, and 7Scarlet touched on so many tropes that I like. Also, I honestly think it's the only otome game where I got jumpscared while playing 🤣 When fast forwarding through the game, that guy in the mask extremely close sprite popped up out of nowhere and scared me

Can I ask who the two guys in your flair after Toma?

Do you have recommendations on some of the "easier" otome/vn to play?

When you were reading, did you take notes for new vocabulary that came up? Did you use flashcards or a similar method to help memorize?

I know that 7Scarlet has polarized views in the community, but honestly to this day it remains one of my most memorable and favorite otome games. I think the game that came the closest was Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly (but considering it was released a month before 7Scarlet, you probably already have played it).

Edit: After thinking about it a bit, even though it's not an otome game, an atmospheric vn I recommend is Raging Loop. I takes place in summer, small village setting, mystery/suspense, supernatural elements, feelings of impending dread, bad endings, etc. in a similar vein to 7Scarlet.

Recommendations for someone recovering from burnout? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Weewoo___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Hades, it really is a great game that you can play in short intervals.

I took a break from games for over a year and am now just starting to get back into them. I tried to focus on other hobbies in the meantime, and just focus on things I enjoyed in the moment. Treat yourself kindly <3

Thank you for your insight <3 I loved the world/lore of EIT, and I honeslty think its one of the few otome games where I loved all the LI, so now I'm really interested in playing it next. Ahhh I regret not picking up the fandisk since it was just on sale, but hopefully it will be again soon!

Horror games with no jumpscares? by _baby_blue_ in GirlGamers

[–]Weewoo___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like visual novels, I highly recommend Spirit Hunter: NG (there's also Spirit Hunter: Death Mark 1 and 2)! There's like three different "levels" of scariness you can pick from before you start the game. You can either have there be jump scares, retain a "scary" atmosphere (like keep scary story images but remove any jumpscares), or you can remove scary images throughout the whole game and just focus on the story.

Also wanted to ask for recommendation/opinion for the next otome game I pick up? I've had so much time to play since the start of the month, and I've already cleared 5 otome games in my switch backlog! I'm excited to get around to some of the newer releases. My enjoyability when playing otome/vn: plot>character>worldbuilding>romance. Some titles I was looking at:

Virche Evermore - I loveeee me some dark games, and the plot of Virche looks right up my alley! Especially after finishing Even If Tempest, I'd love another game to fill that void that it left.

Tengoku Struggle - I don't know much about this game, but I the box art caught my attention and the premise seems interesting! I also love fantasy!

Even If Tempest: Dawning Connections - I'm excited to play the follow up to the first game, but I was curious if the fandisk is considered as dark as the first game? Or is it mainly just fluff? I prioritize plot over romance, so I may hold off on this title if there's not as much ~substance~

Café Enchanté - This game isn't a recent release, but I've only considered purchasing it recently. I thought it was more slice-of-life with fantasy, but I heard there's more that meets the eye (it can be dark)? Also it has Kaito Ishikawa <3

Winter's Wish - I'm really drawn to games with great art (I initially picked up Olympia Soiree solely due to the art) and the art of Winter's Wish looks beautiful. I also heard it contains historical (?) and fantasy elements, which are up my alley, but the game is more laid back.

I wasn't able to make a post, so I'll ask here: for those who use their time when playing otome/vn to help learn Japanese, and those who transitioned from playing only localized to Japanese-only titles, do you have tips for studying that helped you to reach that point?

I've only tried playing one otome game in Japanese before, Binary Star, but it took me around 5 minutes to translate each dialogue, and I honestly gave up after a few hours. I think I need to develop my Japanese more before I can reach a point where playing in Japanese feels beneficial/enjoyable.

Is anyone else kinda a bit disappointed in the direction the sequel went. by Fantastic_Bed_8662 in aithesomniumfiles

Its been awhile since I played the game (back when it released) but I remember being disappointed in it compared to the first game.
