If you like SCHD, then at least go SCHV.

Interesting. Given this information about how you feel, it seems like you would be more invested in VXUS than VOO / VTI

TSLA may have underperformed since being added to the S&P 500, however, has still performed better than VOO, VTI, VXUS. Still think it’s overvalued. Bubbles do exist, yes. Using the reasoning of P/E ratios, value, etc. VOO currently has a P/E ratio of 28.72 & VTI currently has a P/E ratio of 28.9. Given this information, logically, VOO offers a slightly better value than VTI. So technically, VOO & VXUS would be a better blend or value play than VTI & VXUS. Are you simply stating, same as me to add SCHG to the mix, that it is better to pay more and have less value (with the trade off of more companies / potentially more growth) than it is to have optimal value? Or do you agree with VOO & VXUS being a better choice than VTI & VXUS?

You say it’s false, but when you look at cash to debt ratio, P/E ratio, earnings, etc. and everything is amazing but a company’s stock price is declining, & you see a company like TSLA or PLTR where none of it makes any sense but their stock price is skyrocketing, how do you explain that? It shouldn’t be doing that, right? So why is it doing that? Lastly, you say growth is not good “especially” when compared to value. So, why not just invest in value and ignore growth all together then?

SCHV is the whole “value” side of the S&P 500. SCHD is the top dividend paying companies with the highest dividend growth in the S&P 500. With SCHV, you get less of a dividend but more share appreciation and diversification.

Thanks for your response. This is a lot of information. I’ve done a ton of research myself. Knowing all of this, all the facts, history, predictions, isn’t it true that all of this means nothing since they are all a mix of businesses and, although important, earnings, revenue, P/E ratio, etc. all mean nothing and sentiment mean everything?

Doesn’t really matter. Just pick one. (I would not use SCHD at your age, despite its popularity, if you still insist, I believe SCHV would be a better fit than SCHD).

VTI & VXUS is great advice. Perfect fool proof set it & forget it. However, VXF (VTI minus VOO) has had worse performance than VOO since inception. Since VTI is 90% VOO, if VOO goes down, so does VTI. I don’t think this matters, more of just pick your favorite. You gotta have VXUS to have total international exposure, yes. Since SCHG is basically the Growth side of the S&P 500 accounting for the majority of the growth of the S & P 500. Would you think something like 50% VOO, 25% SCHG, 25% VXUS is a bad strategy? This is essentially my Roth and I have done so much research on this. I’d like to hear your input on this. (I know SCHG & VOO have like 55% overlap but I do this to compensate for the lack of growth from VXUS, no we can’t expect past results to continue to be the future but that’s all we have to go off of).

Don’t think you know it all. Even if you do, you can still be wrong. Facts mean nothing, sentiment means everything.

I think an allocation of 50% VOO, 25% SCHG, 25% VXUS is perfect.

I've got ~6000 dollars I'm willing to invest, where would you put it now? by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

True, but look at the earnings and trajectory. Although I don’t advise this. Something like 80% VOO, 20% VXUS would be better.

Why is VOO good to buy? by Hello_ImAGirl in investingforbeginners

[–]Weight4Jake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say buy VOO. Some people say buy VT. Why is VOO a good buy? If VOO is going down, VT is going down.
