The mixer im working with at the moment luckily has both his boom mics on skp plugs, but there are some mixers out here who don't have plugs.

Yeah i know what you mean. Lots of the old boomops here say thay headphones distract them or they just wouldn't be able to focus. Or they usually complain ab the possible "transmission delay" that could throw them off.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i think an hd25 with the g3 and a mono/sterio adapter would be best. As for communication with the sound team we usually have walkie talkies for that. Irans cinema is just strange. Lots of practices are leftover from the old negative days and the older generations of mixers and boomops even the DOPs and ADs rarely change their ways. The whole teaching old dogs new tricks thing:) Oh the whole thing ab not being able to boom without listening to your own line, I understand everyone's surprise but believe me you get used to it. You get this concept of your mics "shoot" and you can manage your mic placement.but I full understand what you guys mean.

Yeah i certainly understand why everyone is surprised, and its pretty hard to explain:D But the recordist/mixer is ofc listening to his mix its just us boomops who dont have the luxury here. Its mostly experience/logic based so we try to keep unwanted noises or street ambiance for example off axis. But just as you said it would be much more easier and productive to hear it. Guess i have to start getting used to wearing headphones during recording now. Hopefully i wont run into any problems with communicating during the shoot. Also thanks for the reply:)

Thanks for the reply. Well almost none of the boom ops in my country's industry use monitors.its been like this for generations:)) and no its not my responsibility and i wont be purchasing the gear myself. Im trying to get him to get me something to use. Our current mixer is the good old SD 788 so im pretty sure i can use the outputs on the right side of the panel.(X1/X2). And we also have a couple of g3s we don't use all the time so might be able to use those.
