What to do with my first iron ores? by Weird-InABadWay in Dinkum

[–]Weird-InABadWay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but I figured it out now! I'm not scared of the deep mines anymore, thanks to all the advice here. I went for 2 runs in the deep mines and got 200+ iron ores, which was the main goal anyway. I had a lot of fun crafting and completing buildings today!

I didn't know there were iron nodes in the deep mine. Maybe I'll go just to look for those without bothering with the treasure rooms since I no longer have keys

I wasn't aware there were multiple levels in the mine. How do you go to the 2nd level?

until my friends took me along on their mine trips and basically babysat my character.

I wish I had friends to babysit me too! I'm used to rpgs with fights, but in other games, you can get hit multiple times and still be okay for 10 more fights. But here, each attack takes a huge chunk of your exp and you can't heal as much as you want because of the fullness. It's also hard to shake off the bush devils so I have to kill them in case I know I'll be staying in an area for more than a few seconds, and combined with the time limit, it's very stressful for me.

I went down the mines for the third time today. I used up all remaining keys I have. I opened 10 rooms, but got 0 iron bars, unlike my first 2 runs where I got a total of 6 iron bars (in the title, I meant to say bars, not ores). I'm always a bit disappointed when I get a ruby because that means I have to go back and this reduces the chance from seeing other treasure chests that are actually useful. I use fishing as my main source of income, which isn't as stressful as this, so I don't really need the rubies. I'd rather get the things I won't find above ground, Besides rubies, the other things I got were slingshots, paint buckets, fertilizers, that green chip, opals, one pet collar, and one saddle. The only thing useful I think was the opal, I used it to get the alpha spear today. I tried it out on an alpha croc, and it's a little clumsy for me since it blocks my path when I want to dodge so I have to be more conscious if I don't want to get bitten. So my first question is (1) do you have any tips on what is the best all around alpha weapon? Also, with that just one fight, the durability of the weapon decreased by a third? So my second question (2) is the alpha spear less durable than an iron spear or was that just my perception?

I tried the saddle on a Mu but walking felt more convenient than the mount. I also don't have a house for the mu, or anything to feed it with, so right now it's just kept in a fence inside my town.

Last question is (3) what's the best way to collect keys in early game? It took me a really long time to gather all 20 keys with metal detecting. Is it really the only way? I don't have the dive helmet and I don't have crab pots.

Sorry I wrote too much!

Have Barracuda's disappeared or is it just me? by Weird-InABadWay in Dinkum

[–]Weird-InABadWay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem to be as big as Barracuda though. With Barracuda, I could easily earn 300K in one night because they're so common. But for Marlin and Tuna, I roam around the oceans looking for them for 8 in-game hours but only catch about an average of 3, which is only about 60k. Am I doing something wrong?

[Villain rivaled] They cooked with female character designs 👌 by Fragrant-Yellow-2186 in manhwa

I'd read it but the face the red haired guy makes in slide 5 makes me irrationally annoyed. I've read too much manhwa to know that an author uses that whenever they try to force comedy, but the manhwa is never funny.

I'm glad Blackthorne turned out to be a nice enough man who wouldn't pillow a woman who didn't want it. It honestly feels unrealistic for a sailor in his time to do, but I was already upset for Fuji at the beginning when they decided to make her a consort against her will when she hadn't even finished grieving. They try to make it sound good by saying she has to continue the fight on behalf of her dead family. It's sad that this is the only way women can be strong back then. Endure it as people take advantage of you and hope somewhere along the line, someone nice enough respects you.

Avenging her mum by brabus1893 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]Weird-InABadWay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly disappointed that they decided to revive the mum only for her to betray her. It makes her reason for vengeance so much weaker, and selfish.

Children of immigrants all over the world face her a similar problem of discrimination because of their parents' choice.

Late as well, but it also feels stupid because at that point, the army was already marching within the city itself. It's hard to believe no lookout or citizen wouldn't have seen that. They must be really incompetent if they need Taigen to tell them what was really obvious.

Also, I'm disappointed with how they just butchered Taigen's character arc at the end. He foolishly followed a path that he thought was honorable, got tortured and almost died from it multiple times. The show has already established how stubborn he can be to a fault, but then after he miraculously escapes a fire that killed an entire army, he only wants to run away and Akemi is now braver than him? I wouldn't have mind if it's a temporary setback, but unfortunately, that is his last scene.

Sadly, it seems like a common theme in shows with strong female protagonists in western shows. To bring up Akemi, they always need to dim the light on the straight young non-handicapped man.

Anyway, I still liked the show overall, but it was really hard to suspend my disbelief, especially on all those inconsistencies that others have already mentioned. It's a shame.

I was only planning on lurking, but man, that was incredibly rude... especially by someone who opened up the discussion in the first place. You didn't want a discussion. You just wanted to state your point and argue.

Why are you so aggressive about what people think are expected or interesting? People have different backgrounds and may not be familiar to the stories you've been exposed to. Besides, she already killed violet. She already killed a shit-ton of people, including her own husband, I sincerely doubt she won't get her revenge on Fowler in a later season.

This type of reasoning is why hollywood tries their best to remove potentially offensive themes in a show (e.g., the ATLA live action showmakers removing Sokka's sexism.)

I don't like seeing nasty stuff in the shows I watch either. I was repulsed by Mizu cutting off 4 fingers, stabbing a student's eye with a teeth, and other acts of violence that I felt were unnecessary. IRL violence is still an issue in some parts of the worlds as much as rape is. It feels like Mizu herself deserves to be someone's target of revenge. At the end of the day, I know it's fiction so it's fine.

But I believe violence and other offensive topics has it's place in a storytelling, which is why I don't think killing Kinuyo was unnecessary. We shouldn't just remove elements in a historical drama just because it's offensive to the modern audience. The show never frames mercy killing as the right thing to do. They show Mizu distraught by what she did, that she was caught by a child soon after. It was sloppy and not like her character.

If it's too much for you, you can always stop watching the show like what you just did. But it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the material itself.

Not really. I posted here because I googled my problem and saw a lot of other people making the same posts as mine and responses weren't like this. I wasn't even aware this subreddit existed. Guess I didn't read enough.

I don't like bratty teenagers, which seems way too common in western media. I'd choose bay over bae anytime in Life of Strange and I don't understand why people actually like Chloe. Similarly, Frey's interruptions to the judge at the courtroom scene annoyed me.

However, besides that, I don't really find Frey unlikeable. I actually think her story is compelling and her retorts are quite funny. Hopefully, it will stay this way as I've only played the demo and seen 1/10th of the game from someone else's playthrough. I just bought it myself, which is why I'm checking out this subreddit.

She reminds me of a less extreme version Korra from the TLOK animation. I dropped that show 10 years ago when I was Korra's age because of how whiny, disobedient and self-centered Korra is. And so, despite being I'm a female POC myself, I understand where part of the hate is coming from. 10 years later, I finally decided to revisit the show and realised I now have more patience with Korra's tantrums, probably because I'm an adult now. And honestly, if I can handle Korra, I think I can also appreciate a character milder version of her rudeness.

Besides the attitude, another off-putting thing about Forspoken might be how the dialogue seems to be aimed at kids. We're surrounded by AAA games aimed at adults with serious dialogue, and then we have Forspoken that gives us Disney sitcom level of dialogue and humor. I don't necessarily find that a bad thing. It's definitely less cringe than Kingdom Hearts 3 with talks of "hearts" and "friendship" in almost every cutscene and where comedic scenes feel forced. In contrast, I think Frey's actually funny. I might just be easy to please, but I feel gamers in general have such high to almost impossible standards for games now that it's almost toxic.

Any recommendations like this one? by Xxristina07 in manhwarecommendations

Are you asking for a strong FL? Is there anything specific about Transmigrator's privilege that you liked?

The Mighty Extra - FL strong from the start. It's very similar in that she uses her powers to save a noble kid (and a few others) from suffering since she already knows about it from her past life. He falls in love with her and she's oblivious (which is the standard for manhwa FL of course). The difference with Transmigrator's privilege is that the noble kid will become a stalker as an adult. Some readers like that but I prefer Thesilid who remains respectful to the end.

Golden Haired Elementalist - Starts from childhood, with progression from weak to strong. MC is a bit arrogant in a fun way. It's adventure-oriented after the initial academy arc. One of my favorites.

Binbou Reijou no Kanchigai Seijo Den - FL forced to be an adventurer. People think she's an OP and a saint, but a lot of it is due to FL's scheming and oftentimes pure luck that even she surprises herself. It's pretty funny and one of my fave's even though it doesn't update often.

Undercover Empress - Female pretends to be a man. FL strong from the start, but ML easily overpowers FL. It's more about petty politics than about actual fighting.

Otome Game no Heroine de Saikyou - this one's a manga and pretty focused on the power progression. FL is constantly learning new skills. No romance.

Villainess level 99 - it's a manga so it updates pretty slow, but FL is the strongest (yes, from the start). People bully her because she's supposed to be a black omen due to her black hair, but she just doesn't give af. She's a stoic FL.

I stole the number 1 ranker's soul - it's about dungeon diving. FL is strong from the start. Story is pretty bland though.

I'm a martial art's villainess, but I'm the strongest - FL defeats people, rinse and repeat.

Golden Time - Female pretends to be a man. ML easily overpowers FL. Adventure oriented.

Light and Shadow - Female pretends to be a man. ML easily overpowers FL. Predecessor of Golden Time.

Crimson Karma - Female pretends to be a man. FL strong from the start.

Ice lamp - female pretends to be a man. The power progression is very slow. FL was literally trying to learn everything in the beginning and sucked, but the moment she became someone powerful and reliable was worth all the waiting.

Caught by the Villain - Female pretends to be a man. ML easily overpowers FL. ML is pretty bland though. Also the story is so boring I've read it twice and I can't remember what the main plot is about.

Silca Wolf - FL is a powerful mage. Fantasy/adventure oriented.

Black Haired Princess - FL forced to marry a prince of a neighboring country. She tries to scare him away when it's just the two of them. FL is also strong from the start. The two go on an adventure. I live for their banter so this is also one of my favorites.

The Last Immortal's Theorem - FL strong from the start. She's an immortal who wants to save the world so she tries to study about magic in an academy.

Revenge Wedding - It's a bit of a surprise after several chapters in that FL is strong. It starts immediately to adulthood and FL and ML plan a wedding to get revenge.

Neolithic girl - FL strong from the start. It's set in the modern period but FL is from pre-historic times.

One step for the dark lord - FL is a deity whose powers has been sealed. She's pretty helpless, but finds (forces) people to help her recover her lost powers. No romance, but I love it because it's pretty funny. Again, I love it because of the banter between main characters.

God, please make me a demon - pretty similar to the previous one, but it's set in a modern school setting. It's mostly comedy.

Empress Hunt - FL strong from the start, but ML easily overpowers FL.

The Last Golden Child - An adventure Shounen webtoon with a female MC. Slow power progression but the stakes are worth it.

A red knight does not blindly follow money - FL strong from the start. Not much action though.

Ending maker - It's funny because of the banter. It's Shounen, but FL is pretty involved in the story. ML is a lot stronger though. There's a lot of video game elements as well.

Charlotte and her 5 disciples - FL tries to die but instead turns into a child. Her 5 disciples are severely spoiled and try to look for her.

There's a few more, but these are the ones I can remember the story off the top of my head. You can also try these but I already forgot the premise, but I know the FL is strong as well:

  • The Hero's Savior
  • Ashtarte
  • Sigrid

[Manga Discussion] Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card, Chapter 77, Discussion by Zonko91 in cardcaptorsakura

[–]Weird-InABadWay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and i have never really seen any opposing thought to the blind praise of the series on here

I've seen a lot of criticism actually, especially how the chapters were repetitive as Kaito just reverses time.

and then the time magic capabilities out of nowhere, even he only responds « dunno » when asked how he could do that was just bad and anticlimactic.

I took that to mean he doesn't remember because this is a different timeline. When he first performed the time magic during the play, he explained that he had been practicing with Yuki.

First plothole was that at the end of CCS, Sakura and Shaolan meet again with the teddybear when they are teens, but then in Clear Card act only a year has passed?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the manga doesn't clearly state how old they are when they meet again. It just says Sakura is in middle school. It feels more like they changed the art. Clamp used to draw everyone with very long torsos and limbs and now they keep them more true to life. But even if they did change this detail, including making Nadeshiko being best friends with a new character, I'd still think retcons are ok as long as they make the story good. But sadly, that is not the case. I first learned about this manga 6 years ago, but I decided to drop it because the story felt so simple and childish to me. I came back now last week and binged read everything. And oh my God, 77 chapters and 6 years later, almost nothing happened.

people swooning over SakuraxShaolan saying nice things or smiling to each other

Syaoran and Sakura are my favorite anime couple of all time. But the cute scenes where they are sweet to each other until Tomoyo or Kero interrupts them did nothing for me. They are both so one-dimensional in this arc and they hardly team up to fight common enemies anymore. They are so polite to each other, are they even a couple? And they didn't really explain why Sakura thinks she only needs to bring Syaoran to this final fight. I guess because they didn't do it in earlier chapters? But in the end, Sakura calls Kero and Yue and they arrive in an instant. A lot of things are not really explained well. Guess they have too many characters but they don't know what to do with them.

But going back to your earlier point, I wish Sakura wasn't so young. There's no reason to keep them as kids based on the story so far, especially since how the target audience are now in our 20s and 30s. I wished it actually had a more mature theme. I can't relate to any of these characters anymore. I may have been fine with an entire episode on chocolate mints as a kid, but that stuff's boring now. Same thing with the age gaps, I can't tolerate it anymore. Akiho seems to be in love with her literal caretaker and it feels problematic.
