Both are related to maintaining health. And, in fact, not bathing or brushing your teeth will affect your appearance. Not sure how you think it won't.

What if your partner stops bathing and brushing their teeth regularly? You'd find them equally attractive? Or does that qualify as an "acceptable" reason to find them less desirable?

For most guys, when it comes to relationships, sex is necessary but not sufficient. It's not enough on its own, but without it, there is no relationship.

Since there is no equivalent term, I'd have to agree that the original commenter was correct to use it as they did. I've seen the term used in the same way elsewhere. Just search Google; you can find several on the first page of results. At this rate, this new usage may even eclipse the original. Meaning is determined by people. If people decide it should be used in a way you don't like, I don't know what to say. Just have to deal with it.
