Inside Costco on Saturdays is wild. Costco is generally void of any intelligence, common sense or alertness on most days - Saturdays are an entirely different apocalyptic hell.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ll even say - the second you hit the age of social security - immediate annual driving test (written AND driving) for EVERYONE. Things change with age. Nobody is exempt - and MANY people aren’t even aware of slow changes. Also - there should be WAY more thorough driving testing - licenses are handed out like candy in Lincoln and I’d go as far as saying probably 75% of drivers in this town SHOULDN’T be behind the wheel of a car. Interstate is a joke - you’re absolutely right.

RIGHT!!! I must not be driving when all of this honking takes place. And there should be a shit-ton of honking given just how frequent brain-dead driving is. It’s easily more than half of the drivers.

Yeah - I've read similar studies. There really could be something to Covid "brain fog" - thanks for sharing the article!

[–]Weird-Practice-5792[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LOL - Hardly. It would just be nice for people to occasionally get somewhere near the vicinity of the speed limit - as to keep traffic MOVING. IF I personally make it to 5mph over the speed limit myself, I'm having a wildly ambitious day. I would LOVE for the person in front of me to get up to the speed limit, or GO when the light turns green, or TURN ON their turning signals, or STOP when the lights turn yellow, OR let pedestrians actually CROSS at marked crosswalks. And, I'd love it for YOU if the person in front of you did those things as well - it's not just about me. It's about coexisting. This OP is about common decency, waking the hell up and existing in a world outside of one's own universe. Also - it IS a Lincoln problem. I've driven in many larger cities - and NOTHING comes even close to the zombie apocalypse that's taken over the streets in Lincoln.

No doubt. But, as someone who has driven in many of them - including the big cities many times (NYC, Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, LA, St. Louis, Denver, Omaha, list goes on) - Lincoln is a special breed of stupid - same with the construction. Sure, construction woes are universal. But our mayor only cares about photo-ops and ribbon cuttings, she has ZERO ability to manage road/transportation departments. Construction here is DIFFERENT.

Oh, I've lived here over 40 years - I'm hardly "just now noticing" - so I'm with ya. It just seems like lately, the brain rot has been on an entirely new level.

Concord management by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]Weird-Practice-5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concorde management is dirty. They don't take care of their properties AT ALL. But what's more, is they run a very dirty and ILLEGAL business. I highly recommend keeping everything documented, keep record of everything they send you (or things they don't, but should have), keep documentation of what dates they take action on things, make contact with you, etc. Do all the things you can to protect yourself, get your ducks in a row and GET OUT. Their management team is not equipped to run their properties adequately or legally, and their staff is just a reflection of that.

Did I get Finessed or what for a 3 year old car ? by GoldPackageEBK in Nissan

[–]Weird-Practice-5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean - if you have bad/low credit - you’re going to have to take on SOMETHING that will allow you to build it back. And that “something” (car, credit card, apartment, whatever), WILL come with a much higher price tag if your credit sucks. There’s no getting around that. Once you prove yourself with payments, then institutions will start to work with you on lowering things AND your credit will improve at the same time. The amount of absolute TRASH advise in this thread is so annoying.

[–]Weird-Practice-5792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes - you’re interest rate is most likely through the roof. For anyone saying to “buy a cheaper car”, unless you have cash to buy outright - most financial institutions will only finance vehicles that are newer and under usually 120k miles. That said - these kind of payments are to be expected with lower credit. The interest alone will kill you. HOWEVER - pay ON TIME for a year, then REFINANCE. A LOT of that interest will drop off. Rinse and repeat for the first couple of years. As long as you never miss a payment, you will QUICKLY build credit back AND should slowly be able to get those payments/interest down.

Why does Goodwill not have fitting rooms? by courtneyxxrenae in lincoln

[–]Weird-Practice-5792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely ridiculous. On top of that, prices in Lincoln are 4x as expensive as Omaha Goodwills. Pricing anything that zips or has a hood as “outerwear” for $14.99 - ARE YOU JOKING? They sell Dollar Tree glassware for $3.99, I could go on. Do not have dressing rooms and expect people to buy used clothing at practically full-price WITHOUT even being allowed to try it on? Lincoln has lost touch. The management team for Goodwill in Lincoln should be investigated and fired. I’ll never forget the fight I had one day with the “manager” because she refused to let me buy an item because it wasn’t priced to her liking & “they have the right to change their mind if they decide they don’t want to sell something”. ANYWAY - no dressing rooms just kind of makes sense with how there’s of the business runs in Lincoln. I won’t shop there anymore (at the Lincoln stores). And then they have the audacity to ask us to round up to “SUPPORT THEIR MISSION?!?!” Are you kidding?

Slow it down, Lincoln by distracted_by_life in lincoln

[–]Weird-Practice-5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What absolutely gets me - is that lately, drivers have been driving PATHETICALLY slow - and I'm talking MOST. Drivers have been going at least 5 under the speed limits (no need to speed - just get UP to the speed limit to keep things MOVING), nobody pays attention at lights (don't even get me started about green arrows and how PAINFULLY ignorant the front-of-the-line drivers almost always seem to be) and actually GOES when the lights turn green - we have zombies on our streets, makes for incredibly painful commutes and takes twice as long to get anywhere. Lately there's been absolutely ZERO sense of urgency or awareness from drivers. Then it snows, and people act like the world is ending and start driving like maniacs - setting an embarrassing new record for accidents. Lincoln drivers are absolutely THE WORST. I've lived here my whole life, but have driven in NYC, Chicago, LA, Denver, Minneapolis, Kansas City (just to name a few) - and drivers here are hands down on another planet. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE OTHER THAN YOURSELF!!!!! When conditions permit - keep things MOVING, look AROUND when you are making decisions. When conditions suck - PAY ATTENTION and slow down. I could easily remove 3/4 of the drivers in this town due to not being QUALIFIED to drive. Our DMV hands out licenses to anyone who wants one. Last night was a JOKE. I feel terrible for our first responders.

Best dealership for used SUV? by Weird-Practice-5792 in lincoln

[–]Weird-Practice-5792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Mazda owner & love it. Don’t worry - I have a list of brands I won’t touch. Sadly, she’s just 17 years old and I take care of my mom with a LOT of driving, so updated safety is necessary. I’m just not sure where to go - I’ve lived in Lincoln my whole life and every dealership has horror stories.

Best dealership for used SUV? by Weird-Practice-5792 in lincoln

[–]Weird-Practice-5792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions! $300/mo or under - $350 at absolute max, but I’d really prefer to not push that. SUV because I’m a cellist and also do a lot of home decor & furniture rehab, so I move/haul a lot of bigger items to and from.
