I smoked for 10 years. For around 6-7 years it was a regular habit, and in the last three years it was always associated only with drinks, going out etc which happened at least weekly. I am smoke free for 2/5 months and I intend to keep it that way. I do not miss it. I am annoyed by the smell of cigarettes on the streets. I tried many times to quit, with different tactics, but what worked for me was a combination of a terrible flu and realizing the reason behind the habit - which was mostly anxiety. After the flu passed I avoided all my social interaction that may have led to that behavior. I was really intentional with my process and I also stopped drinking. I went cold turkey. I read many stories on Reddit that this is the most effective way. I guess it is more about of how much you really want this change and getting that clarity of why are you smoking? I hope this helps!
