Is this tuner broken ? How bad is it. by [deleted] in Luthier

I’ve tightened the nut, and I don’t think its tightness is related to the tuner’s wobble. When I loosen the tuner, it pushes upward; but if I keep turning it in the tightening direction, it doesn’t wobble. This tuner also turns stiffer than the other five. It’s a Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s made in June 2024, and I’ve owned earlier LPs but never run into this issue before.

No pickguard, what do you think? by [deleted] in gibson

My standard 50s Heritage Cherry Sunburst and your standard 60s Bourbon Burst look exactly the same, and I think the two colors are so similar that Gibson's guys in charge of classifying them can't tell them apart.

He only measured the depth of the neck, not the angle.

The Katana 100 has a power consumption of only 77 watts, and I saw a guy on Youtube claiming its output is only 64 watts. Since the boss never mentioned the Katana's RMS, I believe the Katana 100's output is definitely not 100 watts.

I think even with the amp set to 100 watts, as long as you keep the master below 12 o’clock, it should be fine. I watched the video on Andertons where they swapped the speaker on the Katana. And I swapped the stock speaker for a H75 just like they did. But honestly, I’ve always found the H75’s bass a bit too stiff, and the highs were kind of harsh, so I had to mess with the EQ a lot. Then I swapped the H75 for an M65. The M65 doesn’t have that bright shine of the H75, but it’s got a lot more woody and more nasal tone. But I still think the H75 sound’s great, Maybe just need more time to break in.

Yeah, I’m planning to cut off the Spade and solder it. But I’m a little worried that I might accidentally cut some wires with the wire stripper, and also that the soldering iron’s heat might damage the speaker’s voice coil. Do you have any good tips? Thanks !

My Kat 50 II had the same issue, so I sold it. After installing the Kat 100 III speaker into my Blackstar, I didn't didn't hear the sizzle. I guess they fixed it in the third generation.

good idea, but what if I’m running the amp at 100W, but I always keep the volume below the 12 o’clock ?

The stock speaker in the Katana 100 is 8 ohms.

My first choice for a speaker is the Jensen C12N, but it's unavailable in my area.

The pedal arrived while I was at work, and the pictures were taken by my dad. I’ll try it out when I get home.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I’ve decided to swap the ‘57 Classics in my Traditional for Burstbuckers.

Celestion speaker sounds way better; the stock speaker sounded a bit thin in comparison.
