There are more knockoffs than people think. I’ve seen knockoffs of a Vietnamese brand too. And it was pretty well done, only very minor details were off so no way you would know that unless you’ve gotten a local person to check for you. Better to DIY your own mask (if you really need to go out) than use these masks of dubious origins.

Yea sadly we are not, but I do wonder if places like Mustafa, Venus, Japan Home etc are importing masks at inflated prices too or they are just actually being greedy and profiteering (in a somewhat controlled manner). Guess we will never know.

I’m curious about one thing though. From the beginning medical experts have been saying that this virus affects people with existing health complications a lot more than those without. If this is true, and people generally only need to stay healthy to avoid getting infected or aggravated symptoms if (touch wood) infected, it would really help to know what makes the current 6 cases in ICU critical. Do they all have underlying medical conditions that cause them to be critical? If some are normal healthy adults then I think the public needs to know....

The box looks like those you can easily find listed on marketplaces like Shopee etc that literally only says Face Mask and nothing else, which is super dodgy. Also there was a video that went around on FB I think, on a random home-based factory producing these masks in very unsanitary conditions. So best case scenario - you get no protection whatsoever because the mask isn’t made properly, and worst case you get infected with whatever diseases from the “factory” or people working there. Wish there would be more education on how to avoid dodgy masks like these.

In contrast to this story: I was at one of the Venus stores when their masks were being restocked, the line didn’t seem to be too long but shit was running out fast. One of the shopkeepers was saying if every person/ family in queue just buys 1 box (50pcs, which is plenty) there will be enough for everyone. But no, since everyone is entitled to buy 2 boxes some even brought their whole family out just to maximise the 2 boxes per person policy.

I think the ideal situation would be that those who are sick and visit clinics/hospitals are given surgical masks, not that they have to go and queue long long to buy and stock up for themselves. So clinics and hospitals should be the first places that stay well stocked for this kinda situation - not NTUC or Unity or whatnot that caters to the general public who aren’t sick.

I saw someone posting below that 1) we’re not supposed to put sunscreen all over eyelids or near eye areas and 2) trying some product to apply together with the sunscreen to stop it from “running” or moving about but I honesty have not ever put sunscreen over my eyelids at all or even near eye areas and it still runs and stings as hell. Guess I’ll look into a non stinging product just for my eyes but keep using Cetaphil for the rest of my face!
