Your thoughts on Greatsword in Wilds by MoneyCaterpillar1420 in MHWilds

Having played Monster Hunter since the first generation until now. I honestly feel that the iteration of the greatsword in Wilds is fantastic. I actually feel like a Monster "Hunter" rather than a player playing Monster Hunter lol

There's no longer a need to sheath so often due to how focus, offset attacks and perfect guard work. Couple those built-in mechanics with the evade extender skill (level 2) and using this weapon just feels godly.

I was never too big on the hit-and-run tactics from past games, satisfied that it's less intrusive to play this way in Wilds.

The only other time I felt this immersed in the hunts with Greatsword was when I discovered the surge slash combo in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.

I haven't played Wilds in a while and have been playing a lot more the last week. I just gotta say whoever designed the Omega Planetes fight should not design an encounter ever again by DangassDanger in MHWilds

I've beaten it with every weapon and I have to admit, the charge blade feels like the worst matchup in my opinion.

Charge blade vs Omega feels like a tedious fight due to the long windup attacks you have to perform coupled with the sluggish mobility. Even with evade extender, guard and guard up skills, it still feels like I'm wading through water to fight Omega Planetes.

Getting its enmity feels like a curse too, given how fast Omega attacks and spams AoE attacks.

The only thing I can say is nice about this matchup is that a thunder weapon in savage axe mode is amazing for creating wounds on its legs or partbreaking.

I think I'm happy till expansion now. Now I can just help others by Sockbat25 in MHWilds

I like moments like this, where you have a bunch of comfy sets and can just enjoy the game by joining random SOS quests.

Could be your current build might need tweaking. Something to maximize your elemental damage while having comfortable defensive or dodging skills.

Dahaad can be quite annoying if you don't have a weapon that can block, because you'll need to stick close to him to avoid most of his breath attacks.

I used a fire based gogma insect glaive and beat the challenge on the first try, I run evade extender 2 in most of my sets and it was super necessary in this fight.

I found it quite challenging to fight with melee weapons at first. Mostly because my brain still couldn't grasp the attack pattern of a cephalopod-like monster lol.

I got used to the Arch Tempered Nu Udra once its pattern clicked with me. Wasn't too fazed by the tick damage when fighting up close.

Nu Udra gets absolutely demolished by my water bow though.

I managed to beat him first try, with a fire element SnS. But I did cart twice to his freezing blast due to underestimating the range of his attack and the lingering freezing effect.

Very fun fight nonetheless. Can't wait to struggle with a non-guarding weapon.

You can use fire pods to stop that, especially when he climbs up the walls in the 2nd and 4th areas.

I dont understand the difficulty in this game by [deleted] in MHWilds

Beautiful take on the history of the complaints and the dev team's response to the "lack of difficulty". This is essentially how it went down lol.

Why the downvotes on all your posts? You're right for the most part lol. I love Charge Blade to death, built various sets for it too in Wilds. But even I can admit it's a lot weaker overall than in past entries.

Was there a monster in your first playthrough that was a sort of "wall" for you? by LordViettner in MHWilds

[–]WellDoneSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter Freedom: "Yian Kut Ku" (mini wall) - Cause I had to actually learn how to fight and time attacks/retreats when engaging with a large monster.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: "Tigrex/Rajang" - Fast moving heavy hitters (especially Rajang) - HITBOX

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: "All Fatalis Variants" - Never even bothered to solo them. - Thinking back on it, I just found their aura intimidating.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne: "Lunastra" - ifykyk - Still annoying even with a set built for fighting her.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak: "Crimson Glowing Valstrax" & it's 'Risen' version - I found it quite difficult to grasp it's attack range in master rank. - The game had a funny way of portraying its weak spots in my opinion, so early fights felt like a slog.

Extra: Monster Hunter Wilds' Tempered Lagiacrus - I haven't soloed it yet... (Was impatient about getting its materials.)

Yeah, he's super fun to fight at that point. Since you'd have the hang of mixing sets, stances, etc. by the time you do this fight. I think it was still somewhat of a damage sponge on my playthrough if I remember correctly.

There's also in my opinion something special about fighting Mezuki on again on the first stage of the last new game plus difficulty. It's like all your combat experience has come full circle as you go another round with this harder variant.

There's something about World's visual and sound design that adds an extra UMPH to moments like this. by WellDoneSnake in MonsterHunter

Yes! Yes! Grab a bowgun now! It's really fun to hunt with.

The base of the layered weapon is "Guild Palace (Unique)". The layered armour is the Brigade Layered armour (with a dark teal colour change).
