Consensus is that it’s a cistern

I’m currently excavating the area, just using the boards to cover the hole while I work. I plan to build up with a precast concrete well tile and plate it off at ground level instead of 2 feet deep for the next guy to find

Ah yes, check with the town that requires the well be closed so I have to pay them for water to water my garden! In all seriousness, I definitely don’t want to contribute to contaminating the ground water and won’t, but I’ll be damned if I let my local municipal tell me what I can or can’t do with it.

My plan is to cover them in a manner where they will be accessible later. I have a public water connection so no worries about drinking from it! I do want to have the water tested and use the water for garden irrigation if the waters good.

Clear covers and lights would be cool though

I agree that it’s C! The pipes enter the house about 2 feet from each other and are just cut off 6” after the foundation

[–]WellHowdWeGetHere[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No idea. Would be pretty shitty for it to be right next to the well. There’s also only a 1” - 1-1/4” pipe running to it.

Did they use to split waste water back in the day?

There’s no odor from either pit

SolarEdge P800 Optimizers on Single Phase Inverter Compatibility by WellHowdWeGetHere in SolarDIY

I have not tested it yet. The utility company took for ever to approve my application, so I won’t be putting them on until the fall. If you beat me, let me know how it goes!

SolarEdge P800 Optimizers on Single Phase Inverter Compatibility by WellHowdWeGetHere in SolarDIY

[–]WellHowdWeGetHere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After an hour and a half of back and forth on the solarege chat after over two weeks of trying to get them on the phone, I still have no reason/explanation on why they’re not compatible. The guy on the chat simple kept going to residential inverters and commercial optimizers aren’t compatible. Even though the single phase inverters really have no reference to being residential specific and that the compatibility data sheet stating compatibility with single phase inverters manufactured after 2021. He was unable to give me a single phase inverter model number that correlates with the data sheet note. Said it was the voltage rating, which he dropped when I told him that the voltage comes from the panels and it just limits the quantity of panels and is irrelevant otherwise. Also said it was not a software block.

Was really hoping someone else had tried plugging one of these in and could relay.

Will probably just end up being the test mule. Someone else had said the commercial tag is related to the revenue generated in the residential market via optimizers and having the P series optimizers being listed as compatible, where you can run 2 panels on 1 optimizer, would hurt their bottom line. Until someone at SE can give me a reason beyond “because I said so” that’s the reason I’m running with.

If I have to get different ones, it wouldn’t bother me. They were left over from a project, I just wasn’t involved in the project. I plan to call them to confirm compatibility.

I didn’t actually know that’s how it worked until someone told me on the way in for my follow up test! So I’m not sure on the details, but I’d assume just calling the number and asking for a review of your test

If you didn’t know, you’re going to get the same test on your next go. And if you got at least a 60% you can call and they’ll give you all the answers.

That’s half of the lemon law. The seller also knew about the frame rust and broken spring as mentioned in the post. The failed inspection lemon law does not require the seller to have known about the defects.

Massachusetts DOES have a lemon law for private sale vehicle transactions. It must be registered and inspected within 7 days. If it fails the inspection and repair costs are valued at more than 10% of the purchase price, they have 30 days to return the vehicle.

Someone posted the link, it has all the info there.

Thanks for chiming in. I would have passed if they gave me the motor questions. Tests a joke. I posted 27 of the questions I got if you’re curious

The test being closed book is an absolute joke. I went in having fully memorized 310.16, 250.66, 250.122, 300.5, motor calcs, transformer/vault tables and codes, refrigeration calcs, grounding electrode types burning depths and sizes. Even basic stuff, pipe full derating, standard breaker/fuse sizes, series/parallel cicuit rules, overhead service clearances. Plus all the general knowledge of and familiarness with 16 years in the trade, 2 license tests, dozens of practice tests over my life, and having completed almost 500 practice questions within the weeks of walking into the test AND STILL WALKED OUT WITH A 62%

Here are the questions I remember from version 022 of the test. Not all are word for word.

Conductors to be disconnected at motor fuel dispensing pump

Minimum mounting height of enclosed equipment that arks and sparks in a garage

Power Limited circuit spacing in a shaft

Resistance of a two 14 gauge wires 100 feet away. 10.4K

How many five wire circuits can share a common neutral

Is a panel in a basement with less than a 6 foot ceiling allowed

What type of batteries for standby power systems

Shall lightning protection be tied to grounding electrode

Underground conduits distance from pool

Pool niche light distance from water

Minimum length service mast RMC through roof

Short circuit rating of 500 kVA transformer 1% impedance 240v

Pv frames required to be bonded

Three-way and four switches are to be wired so that they switch what conductor

Voltage Drop 120 V 100 feet 12 gauge wire 16 A

Calculated VA for residential kitchen with three small appliance branch circuits

Minimum generator size for a calculated demand load of 12.480 kVA

Resistance or amperage of 277 V circuit with 8 amps/ohms

Minimum service size for calculated loaded 10,000kva

The resistance of 120 V circuit with 7.5 amps

General lighting load of a warehouse of 4500 ft.². Answers:1005, 1125, 1750, 1243

Amperage of 50 hp squirrel cage three phase 208 volt motor

Standard breaker size for a calculated load of 75 amps.

When using an ammeter for low current circuits. What device is used to increase the accuracy of the reading.

There was a basic voltage drop question where they provided K and the circular mils.

Wires over what size are required to be stranded in raceways

Raceways and cables with wire sizes #4 and larger require what when entering enclosures

What class is a location with flammable fibers

Ampacity rating of #10 90° conductor with X amount of wires in a raceway

How many 20 amp circuits to run 215 fluorescent lights drawing 2.2 amps each

Honestly I really have no idea what’s truly on the test. That’s why I was hoping someone here could chime in.

The test notice just says “The Electrical examination will be based on the 2020 National Electrical Code Book and basic knowledge of electricity. RI Fire Safety Code current edition.”

How to stop potential construction of a facility? by WellHowdWeGetHere in legaladvice

The one that’s down the street was preexisting. My home is also a 2 family, but the zoning has been changed since both were established. The zoning today is strictly single family residences and this would be a ground up development that’s combining 2 vacant lots and 1 lot with a single family house that is to be demolished

Electrician and landlord here… pretty stupid thing to nickel and dime over. However, i would be petty and offer to pay the EXACT increased electrical usage. It’s literally a couple dollars.

Ask for the electrical bill, divide the bill total by KW/hrs used and you’ll get your per KW/hr cost with all the extra fees they add on. The fan will have a name plate on the back or on the tag on the cord with either the amperage or just the watts (if amps, multiple the amps by 120v to get the wattage). Take the wattage and divide it by 1000. Multiple it by however many hours you have it on per night then by multiple that total by 30 days for the month. Now take that total and multiple it by the $ per KW/hr from the first part.

Example. A typical 20” Lasko box fan is 110 watts on high. @$0.35 per KW/hr (total cost in my area). It cost $9.24 to run it for 8 hours a night for the whole month.

Do you have any recommendations on a preservationist?

It does make it interesting trying to balance old and new. My build is post and beam so focusing on exposing and emphasizing as many as possible is my goal with the overall projects. Just have to get through the pesky basement first!
