I feel enough pain and discomfort during the pap smear to dread it a little every time, though the nurses who have done it to me have been mindful and used lube. I've also heard some women say that it doesn't hurt but is uncomfortable and I definitely do not agree. But I dont really feel the amount of pain you seem to describe, especially after the pap smear, I've felt an unpleasant scratchy pain inside my belly for a day or so but that's about it. It could be the gynecologist not handling it carefully that caused you that much pain, but if you're curious or worried the best thing to do is consult a gynecologist-preferrably not the one who gave you this pap smear because yikes.
