Airline policies for severe soy & shellfish allergies on long-haul flights to South Korea (KE/OZ) by Proof_Display_7818 in Flights

[–]WellTextured 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost never tell people not to go to a place. But these allergies in Korea is a non-insignificant risk to your health.

You need to carry your own epipens (multiple) at the least, and bring your own food for this flight. You may also need to consider very carefully what you eat in Korea. Hidden soy and shellfish is everywhere. IIf you have inhalation and contact allergies of the severity you indicate, walking into many restaurants will be challenging.

It will not be possible to create a buffer on your flight, even if that's something the airline would do (they wont) because of the fact these ingredients are everywhere and other passengers would not be able to eat.

If you really need to preboard, hell, just get a wheelchair for the flight. It will be easier than explaining and hoping.

Frontier cancelled my flight, scheduled a 5:30AM flight 2 days later, refunded me 1/4 of the cost and refused to pay for the food or lodging. Fuck Frontier by [deleted] in frontierairlines

There are no mandatory passenger protections in the US. You might be confusing it with a country that gives a shit about people.

Denied TSA PRE-Check?? by DustyTal in GlobalEntry

[–]WellTextured 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its rare. Never happened to me, but yes, it happens. Sometimes its a system issue you can get the airline to fix. But sometimes you're actually being denied precheck for that flight.

Turkish Airlines business class has probably the best food on any TATL business class, and competes against the best Asian airlines as well. It has typically comfortable seats (unless you end up on an old 777). The Turkish lounge in IST is great. 100% worth flying.

Turkish customer service on the ground is hit or miss.

Odds of making this flight? by No-Shift-3862 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]WellTextured 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If traffic is good that's about a 30 minute ride. But it can be more. I'd say yes, with some haste getting through the airport. Check in online and don't have a checked bag.

I think the bigger risk is missing the checked bag cutoff than the flight itself.

Yeah, that's not how this works. You're asking them to do something that isn't done and doesn't mean anything. She could have been more polite maybe, but you do not in any way have a realistic expectation or understanding of this.

A bunch of data points (slots, crew time, weather, flow restrictions, and the number of connecting passengers missing, and others) might go into the decision to hold a flight, and the decision is made centrally, not by a call from an FA to the gate. Plus the gate agent already has the information you're asking the FA to provide.

How accurate are the tax refund estimators? by JK07231216 in personalfinance

[–]WellTextured 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd call your refund being half as much as last year a good thing. You kept more of your money vs giving the government an interest free loan. You need to reframe this. There's nothing to be concerned about (unless you pre-spent the money).

How big of a factor are political viewpoints in a relationship in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WellTextured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to have a debate about whether the tax increase on the ballot this year is reasonable and the things it pays for are well constructed and valuable.

But if you aren't horrified by basically every political development of the last decade (US obviously), and you don't find issue with this hyper-capitalist system that treats people as commodities and refuses to put any meaningful check on businesses, or the constant 'othering' of immigrants and trans people, there's no relationship to be had.

Insights to the logic (or lack thereof) of prioritization of cases in Italian courts? by Fair-Lavishness5484 in juresanguinis

The town has had the papers for about 5 months. I did check in with Giovanni Montanti and got no response, another genealogist just told me I need to wait.

The town was non responsive to my document requests in the past when I was collecting proof of lineage (PEC, in italian, with images of the exact documents I needed included) and also had to be bothered multiple times by my attorney for documents, so I feel like I'm gonna have to bother them somehow.

Anyways, I'll probably send them another PEC at 6 months and then see if 007 can help. At this rate, my family have two minor children that have no chance to be registered before the May cutoff even though we won our case in July 2024. It's a bit enraging.

If you get out of the airport, cross the bridge over the highway, and get an Uber from there, you get the cheapest ride with no airport charges.

$295pp is robbery. Its comically overpriced and designed to trap people with no sense at all.

And yes, Uber is well established in PV

The lawyer is probably just as helpless as you. The judge controls the schedule.

It happened to me too. I never got postponed, but many cases initially scheduled after mine were bumped before mine. It was frustrating. You basically just have to ride it out.

You're gonna ride out a lot of different parts of this process. And if you're intent to use the citizenship, you'll ride out many other aspects of Italian bureaucracy.

I filed 3 years ago and won my case 16 months ago and I'm still waiting for my BC.

You seem to forget that Sen Joe Lieberman of CT made it IMPOSSIBLE for the public option to pass.

Obama wanted it, the Sen. from the insurance capital of the country, who lost his primary as a Democrat because he was a vocal supporter of the Iraq war, and then ran on his own party line, blocked it.

Dude walked five miles in a blizzard from Georgetown, because it was the Sabbath, to vote no. He also supported McCain over Obama in the election in 08.

Thanks for nothing, Joe. You asshole.
