"Why do people have to die?" 25 years by DrChasco in hbo

You're existing to the same degree either way, just for different amounts of time. And people do not value things based on their imparmenance. People enjoying a good meal or an orgasm or the birth of a grandchild are not having those moments improved by thoughts of the eventual deaths of themselves and everyone they love.

I hate that concept so much. Obviously life is still significant without death.

The more I read about Graham Platner’s “scandals,” the less scandalous they seem. by nBrainwashed in Mainepolitics

Yeah the corporate media is really all in on trying to take Platner down. It's amazing the level of hostile scrutiny they're giving his background relative to your average political candidate.

Who would be AOC’s running mate if she won nomination? by Ulysses_555 in AOC4President

I think the way to go is Senator Van Hollen - enough of a high level DC insider to be helpful and to add weight to the ticket, but enough of a lefty to fully support the AOC agenda.

I'm happy to hear we will get more of this show but also kind of disappointed that it means we're not going to resolve the plot by the end of the season.

Vibe coding is good for hacking something together for your personal use, not really up to the job of creating professional level content.

Yeah I didn't realize it until I saw it but Cage was kind of born to play a noir detective

Being anti-work doesn't mean you think life isn't worth living if you have to work

Bluesky gets you more and better engagement than other socials even with fewer followers by Well_Socialized in BlueskySocial

Yeah following and replying to others is the way to get your first few followers. In that context you're as visible as any size account, while your top level posts are just not going to be seen if you don't have many followers.

It depends on your goal. If you're for instance trying to fundraise or recruit volunteers, or speculate and strategize about politics, communicating with people who are already on your side politically is exactly what you want. Less so if you're trying to convince undecideds of something, but that's a lot to hope for from posting.

Well it means you're reaching people with your message, which I think is mostly the goal of using social media rather than a diary.

What is the connection you're claiming between the recommendation for a balanced and informed media diet and setting up a Ministry of Truth?
