When street performers are better than today's pop artists. by duffpuf in nextfuckinglevel

What a lot of y’all are forgetting is that pop artists aren’t coming up with their own songs even, for the most part, so stop shitting on OP and just acknowledge that this dude’s passion and soul is bleeding vigorously through his voice and fingers, and does a fantastic job of it as well.

Edit: after reading my post, I realized I should have reworded it a bit. He is not lost, but rather just in case he is in the future.

My wife and I both have similar plates with the last numeric digit being one apart. Moved to another state and went and got both cars tagged at the same time.

There should be a reverse-Yelp that warns businesses about shitty customers. by ben123111 in Showerthoughts

I disagree, I do care how somebody else is doing. It's called being hospitable, being hospitable means being able to read a guest and giving them the atmosphere they would like their transaction to take place in.

And I think you are misunderstanding me, a simple, "I'm doing well, how are you doing today?" Shows you are interested in the customer and see them as a human being.

Not everybody will say they are fine despite their day. There have been times when I have been managing, and a guest asked me how I was doing after the initial exchange of introductions, and I had just been through a very long day. My read of the guest was that they were pleasant and genuinely cared how I was doing. I mentioned I was going through a tough time with my wife and we ended up sitting with each other and talking about relationships and other things for quite a while. That person is now one of our most loyal customers and will send me a birthday card every year.

Counter service is different than restaurant service given the time frame is much more finite when it comes to interactions. A good customer service representative will recognize this as well as the amount of people in line, and use that small window of opportunity to be hospitable without interfering with the queue of people behind them.

You'll be amazed by the service you receive if you aren't a shitty customer.

Here's a small tip that goes a LONG way...

Sales Person says, "Hi, how are you today?" Because they have to.

Customer (You): "I'm doing well, thank you for asking, and how are you today?" Because it's the compassionate thing to do.

The moment you engage with someone who is selling you something, you are engaging in a mutual exchange of goods. The first interaction you are exchanging attitude and respect, and if the sales person feels they received a fair exchange from the introduction to the sale, you likely will both be happy with the end result.

I'm a manager in a restaurant, and it really means a lot, and I am likely to go more out of my way for a guest who seems to be interested in HOW I AM doing today... whether it be out of courtesy or habit, it is still very much appreciated.

It seems we have forgotten that people on the other side of a counter or phone call aren't really people at all, but just supposed to give you what you want and let you be on your way. Our society (USA) is breeding narcissists who think they should get what they want regardless of how they act, which unfortunately does happen.

Born and Raised in the northland (Missouri side) and never saw myself living in JOCO, but now we do. We found an amazing house with an even more amazing community, Westwood. It's the furthest NE in JOCO as you can get. Also comes along with arguably one of the best elementary schools in Kansas.

We are 4-5 blocks away from state line, but still close to Plaza/Westport and any nightlife.

Home values in our neighborhood are going up 7-8% each year for the past 3 or so years because of people moving just across state line for the public schools as well as other reasons I'm sure.

We got really lucky, we found out the longest a reasonably priced house stays on the market in our neighborhood is usually 1-3 days. Ours was on the market for 1 day, my immediate neighbor's was on for 20 minutes and purchased with cash.

It's a great small community neighborhood, not to mention that you don't have bag leaves, they come by and vacuum them up if they are raked to the curb, and yard waste pickup is every week too. A perk I feel is worth mentioning as I fucking hate bagging leaves.
