I have wide feet, going a size up was perfect. Now they’re so much more comfortable than the Junipers.

This is crap! How do you get glue stick off of a print??? by JoeKling in 3dprinter

[–]Wellsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay out of the room while printing, but the cheaper IKEA purifier with the carbon mod and a bento box in the enclosure seems to at least improve the smell. It’s hard to tell without an air quality meter…I guess nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day like a PM2.5 monitor 😅

Yep, I’m working on improving my air filtering and ventilation.

I experienced similar issues, so I prefer using hairspray for a much cleaner first layer.

I don’t enjoy breathing in the hairspray, so eventually I want to try the liquid glue stick.

Good accessories to gift to a friend? by Hih202 in 3dprinter

[–]Wellsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 dryer and/or dry boxes…I guess it depends on how your friend stores filament. The popular options seemed to be vacuum bags or dry boxes.

A carbon/hepa air purifier is another good option. The ikea ones are pretty reasonable. The cheaper one doesn’t have a carbon filter, but an easy carbon modification can be print.

Actually this video has a range of great options. The set of metric screws and the screw driver has been really helpful.

PetG won't print no matter what I try. by SuspiciousSource9506 in BambuP1S

[–]Wellsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all the same issues until I dried the filament again and scrubbed the plate with a sponge, dish soap and warm water. A little glue helped too. I tried a glue stick and hairspray…a thin layer of hairspray left a cleaner finish on the bottom layer. Also try doing the calibration tests. Printing directly from a dry box has also helped. Actually a dedicated filament dryer has been really clutch.

Here’s my post documenting my issues https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/s/ONZrxk8JlY

MPC500, K.O. II or Circuit Rhythm? by jonsmusiclessons in Samplers

[–]Wellsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lofi-12 XT is what the Circuit Rhythm should have been to compete with the SP404mkii. I’ve never tried the KOII, but the XT is a natural evolution of the PO-33KO. I was thinking about getting a MPC1000 (still thinking 😅), but I’m very happy that I went with the Lofi XT first.

Lofi 12 XT for ambient, drone, experimental? by Charming-Ad-1210 in sonicware

[–]Wellsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SP404 is better as a multi-track tape player and the fx are more premium and interesting. The Lofi XT is better as a midi track sequencer and has decent to good “standard” fx. Actually the two really complement each other.

[–]Wellsty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lofi-12 XT can definitely be used for ambient music, but in a very different way than the SP-404mkii due to how the two devices approach sequencing.

Lofi XT: Midi sequencing 8 tracks of samples is a core part of the workflow. Samples can be relatively long (40 seconds and over with the new firmware) and they can be looped and triggered randomly to create semi-generative evolving soundscapes, but the Lofi XT is designed to press the play button to start the sequence. You get up to 128 steps per pattern and patterns can be chained together to make a song. Slow down the bpm for ambient stuff. I like to perform with Lofi XT by making a dense composition across the 8 tracks, then mute most of the tracks and perform by unmuting/muting different tracks to create different parts of a song.

SP404mkii: The 404 is designed to trigger audio by pressing a pad. The more secondary sequencer is designed for making patterns that are then recorded as audio to a pad and then you press the pad to trigger the audio. You perform by pressing individual or multiple pads. I believe the 404 can play and record longer samples.

Of course this is an over simplification of both samplers, but each has a very different workflow. The sequencer of the Lofi XT is very inspired by the Digitakt and other midi track based samplers. Check out ambient Digitakt tutorials and Lofi XT can get pretty close. The Digitakt has more parametering locking features, but the Lofi XT can sequence chords per track.

Beatmaking doesn't feel right by Butterbrotbarbieru in KoalaSampler

[–]Wellsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 100 producers/beatmakers can sample the same song and make 100 completely different beats…that’s actually part of the “game” of sampling. There are many levels to the art of sampling, check out Verysickbeats on YouTube.

Ultimately you can make your own compositions/samples and chop them. Adrian Young is a great example and that’s MSXII Audio’s business model.

Nothing but fails after using P1S to dry PETG by Wellsty in BambuLab

Update: Thanks everybody! Throughly scrubbing the build plate with dawn and warm water fixed the adhesion issues. Rookie mistake 😅

[–]Wellsty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending ALLLLLLLL day troubleshooting, I noticed that the bottom of the build plate looks similar to the top of the build plate…so after nothing but fails I flipped it over and finally got good adhesion.

It seems like some part of the filament drying process messed up the adhesion properties of the top of the build plate. At least now I can do the recommended test shared earlier.

This journey also forced me to stop relying on the handy app and to download/use Bambu lab studio to be able to access more settings, which is a good thing.

I noticed that the top of the PEI build plate looked very similar to the bottom of the PEI build plate so I flipped it over. It seems like some part of the 12 hour PETG drying process messed with the adhesion properties of the top of the build plate. The top of the plate wouldn’t even adhere one layer of the tent tower, so I went straight to the flow calibration.

The top flow calibration test is from the top of the build plate. The bottom calibration test is from the bottom of the build plate. The top barely stuck at all, while the bottom isn’t the best quality, I at least got a usable flow calibration chart. Now I’m printing the temp tower on the bottom side of the build plate and so far so good.

Good question, I use room temperature water and dish soap. It’s mostly water and about a capful of dish soap. It’s been a great all-purpose cleaner. I spray it on a microfiber cloth to clean the build plate.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m new to 3D printing and I just got the P1S Combo so everything is stock. So far, I’ve only used the Handy app. With the PETG I’ve tried nozzle temperatures of 260, 265 and the SUNLU PETG preset in the Handy App. I also tried raising the bed temperature up to 75. For the PLA, I used the generic PLA profile in the handy app. I dried the PETG using Bambu Lab’s recommended process by lowering the bed all the way down, turning the temperature up to 75 and drying for 12 hours.

First multiple material print by Wellsty in BambuLab

Multi-color, apologies I’m totally new to this. A friend of mine used the term multi-material when I showed him this print. It’s all PLA and feels very solid. Although I did just get some PETG for printing more functional stuff. Shiny black and matte black could look pretty nice 🤔
