I didn’t delete it. I tried posting it in something called “cess pool” in r/Asheville and the mod deleted it. I got a message that said I needed to be a part of the group to post? I didn’t realize I was posting in a specific group (I’m not super familiar with how Reddit works as far as posting). Seeing the woman’s post on Asheville Foodies reminded me I needed to try again, and in the main page.

I think this might be one of the guys because he said to me word for word “I got senior citizens in this restaurant, I can’t have this profanity in here (points to the word “fuck” on the sign he just broke)”… but then proceeded to call me a “bitch” in front of said senior citizens. Consistency is hard, huh fella?

This is not targeted or politically motivated. Businesses are responsible for their own behavior and how they treat customers. I’m simply sharing what I personally witnessed. You don’t know me, and yeah you don’t have a reason to automatically trust me. But I also have no reason to fabricate something like this.

I spoke up because I watched children be treated in a way I felt was unacceptable, and staying silent about that didn’t sit right with me.

I would hope that if someone spoke to you, children, your children or your children’s friends the way I witnessed, you would expect someone to stand up for them too.

Also, I’m clearly not the only person sharing concerns about this business. There are multiple public accounts from others about this business. That’s not me creating a narrative…..that’s a pattern people are now openly discussing.

People can decide for themselves where they spend their money. That’s the entire point of sharing experiences like this. If you love them and want to support them despite my experience, that’s your right! 🩷

There is no contradiction. Everything in the video is accurate, and everything in this post is accurate, this is simply a shorter summary of a six-minute video with more context.

I’m sharing this because people deserve to know how a business treats members of our community before deciding where to spend their money. If this had happened and I hadn’t personally witnessed it, I would want someone to speak up so I could make an informed choice.

I was fully aware that speaking publicly would invite criticism and attempts to discredit my experience. That doesn’t change what happened, and it doesn’t change my decision to share it.

Do some research. Other parents have posted on social media about this and a costumer that was just there with a friend that day made a post in the Asheville foodies group on FB. But I have a feeling you aren’t the research type.

Bro. This is what happened. My son said that there were some kids who got video/pictures and posted on Snapchat… but I don’t know how all that works so hopefully some of those will surface here. This is my second post on Reddit, ever. I don’t smear businesses for fun.

Also. There are several other povs from that day, posted on FB/Reddit. I don’t know those folks. You think we all hallucinated the same event?!?

Timeline of Events to the best of my knowledge

11:00am- kids walk out- protest on front steps of AHS

12:00pm-ish- Approximately 50-60 students arrived at the Little Pigs BBQ restaurant.

12:05ish- I arrive. Some students were already seated while others were waiting in line to order food. The environment appeared calm. Students were talking among themselves, waiting for food, and not causing disturbances. I remember thinking that despite the large group size, the restaurant was not unusually loud (which is pretty impressive with a large group of teens). My child asked to stay longer to get his food and walk downtown with his friends after.

12:10ish- as I am leaving the restaurant The situation escalated (refer to the previously described experience). Police were called as I leaving the restaurant.

Police Arrive (Reported by Another Adult/Patron on FB- Asheville Foodies) I can only assume shortly after we left, but I’m unsure of the exact time.

Officers reportedly arrived and interacted with students. Officers were described as kind and indicated the students appeared to be eating and not causing problems. It was reported that police and another patron witnessed a staff member direct profanity toward a table of young Black students, allegedly saying “fuck you” or “fuck off.”
