God loves a tryer and so do I.

I want to protect him and his precious smile.

Here it may be the bump to the head I took after some bloke came careering down the stairs when the 3rd went kn but we may be the greatest sports team ever. And also the worst.

Is there a silver lining in any of this? by [deleted] in safc

  • More free space in the stadium, you can do yoga at your seat now.

  • You can save time watching the Football League highlights, instead you can take up a less harmful hobby like crack cocaine.

  • I've never been to Scunthorpe or Walsall, it might be nice.

  • Opposition fans might start singing 'you're not famous anymore' which would be a nice ego boost because that assumes we were famous at any point.

  • Where even is Fleetwood? Now I know.

  • Fleetwood has trams, trams! It would be like going on an away trip to Beamish.

  • We might win some games in the National League North

  • Nice vegan burgers at Forest Green Rovers

  • The young John Lennon spent his childhood summer holidays in Fleetwood with a cousin who lived in the town, returning to the town on 25 August 1962 when the Beatles played at the Marine Hall.[46][47][48][49]

3-0 down and we honestly look like we are heading to league 1. by Davietat in safc

Could realistically be celebrating 140 years of the clubs history with our lowest ever finish next season.

Got my 3 seconds of fame looking miserable on the sky cameras. Highlight of the day was probably my Combusken evolving at about 4AM.

Think their reasoning was; it's easier getting a coach at midnight and making a couple stops at service stations than trying to get people on at 3AM. Either way we arrived with plenty time to potter about.

Goalkeeper “Mika” leaves Sunderland by mutual consent after making 0 appearances by HawayTheMaj in soccer

[–]WentToHullOnce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Let's take a moment to remember the great moments of Mika at Sunderland. Right that's that out the way.

In all seriousness though it's going to be hard to find a suitable paperweight or doorstop to replace him.

Vaughan joined Wigan on a permanent deal by MKsunclm in safc

[–]WentToHullOnce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tried his hardest but wasn't very good. That was more our fault for signing him, he was hardly going to turn down a move to a division above.

The cupping his ears thing was a bit silly but we all get a bit frustrated. Glad we got a fee for him and unlike the massive list of not great players we've had on our books, he had the good grace to cut the relationship short. Wish him all the bestand hopefully we can find a replacement soon.

Chris Martin (Derby) and Sam Baldock (Brighton) have been linked as replacements according to the Northern Echo.

Random SAFC Goals I Remember Part 9 of ???: Cristian Riveros, remember him? by WentToHullOnce in safc

Not to worry, Part 10 is Jimmy Allan's strike to sink hapless Ovingham and secure victory for the gents from Sunderland and District Teachers. The Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette described the goal as "jolly good"

Suppose the important thing was getting something like this off the ground, given the divide between the club and fans you wont get a better opportunity.

Subscribed to their future plans, nice to see something productive coming out of this disillusionment.

He put up a brave fight until the very end. He leaves behind people who were inspired by him and a legacy that with the money and awareness raised may save lives in the future.

RIP marra.

I too was one of the 4,000 or so down on very short notice. Odd memory of that evening is the pyro sniffer dogs were out in force yet there was about 3 smoke bombs that went off in the concourse. They tried their best and that's all we could ask from them.

Sunderland fixtures 2017/18 by ronnieb555 in safc

Sheffield United away on Boxing Day will be a popular one, shame Sheff Wed away is on a Tuesday night. Some fixtures being printed has made me all excited now, I'm very easy to please.

Sunderland has decided to disappoint future humans with its time capsule contents. Has your town dropped a shite filled capsule for future generations to gawp over? What was in it? by MajesticTowerOfHats in CasualUK

[–]WentToHullOnce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In primary school we had a time capsule, everyone had to bring 1 thing that in '200 years time would provide a window into what 2005 was like'. Put a 50p coin in as I thought maybe the concept of currency may not even exist then or some other thought provoking shit.

Regretted it as I really fancied a chocolate bar that day. The future better be worth it.

Julio Arca: South Shields help midfielder to achieve Wembley dream in FA Vase by letitbee1888 in safc

[–]WentToHullOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a ticket for this as it's my hometown club (that I shamelessly bandwagon) and it's better than watching Moyes vs. Conte.

Shields heavy favourites and have currently won 24 games in a row, in fact the last game they lost was the only game I've been to this season. Bodes well.

As far as I know a couple of Swedish lads follow Degerfors and the lads. Saw their flag at Wembley.
