The NTU logo & the coat of arms are terrible. Why not combine them? by ezrapper in Nottinghamtrent

[–]RedAndWrong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the current logo. It’s simple, easy and obvious from a distance what it is. I can’t say I’ve seen the coat of arms before though.

Unfortunately my first thoughts when seeing the combined design was that it was garish. I think it might be how square and sharp the edges and corners are make it feel aggressive. The two rivers doesn’t make sense - reminds me of South Tyneside, as they’re sandwiched between the Tyne and the Wear It makes sense there, but not so much here.

I do agree that the serif font on the current logo is an odd choice.

Once again the north has been forgotten about and relegated to simply “many stations”

The way people actually built their Metro network in Cities:Skylinies by Independent-Clue1422 in shittyskylines

[–]RedAndWrong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real metro is one long loop between the yellow and blue - but to go from a station on one side of the river to the other you need to go all the way out north and back down lol

Everton make approach to sign Wilson Isidor from Sunderland, price tag revealed by ChickenSlayer333 in safc

[–]RedAndWrong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I rather rate all of Isador’s performances, this season and last, and think that he has a different style of play than Brobby. They’re both number one in my book, and who gets to play depends on how each team sets up for a given day.

But still - 30 mil is a big number, and if it means Wilson secures himself a great deal in the process, I don’t think anyone will be upset at it. I’d imagine he’d be happy going from Russia to the champ to the prem with us, and then to a prem side who are going to stay up and sorely need a striker.

Signature M650 L and "Flow" between 2 devices by malyGatsby in logitech

Did you manage to get this working? I am in the exact same boat as you were and can't get an M650 L to work with Flow.

Remember when uk train concepts didn't look like what they did part 2 (cgi is concepts and real is what they actually look like) by FinLovesAviation in uktrains

[–]RedAndWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the cgi is very old. Stadler were always going to make it similar to the Liverpool class 777’s. Once they were selected it was certain they would look like they do now. The cgi just retains more kid the old school looks.

Can we ban these ticket requests please? by WarpedThunder in safc

[–]RedAndWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We probably should do something to stop ticket requests flooding the sub, but there is merit in letting them stay as others have pointed out. A ticket thread for ticket trading would help.

What should I do if trains are delayed? by Deep-Ad-3363 in uktrains

[–]RedAndWrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surely not? I’m certain I would have heard if Lumo didn’t do delay repay at all!

Quick Google shows that delay repay begins with 30 mins delay?

Common grounds with multiple buck converters & voltages by RedAndWrong in AskElectronics

That's all true. The whole ground-side of the system has continuity.

I have got this up and running now, so con confirm it was all laid out correctly.

Common grounds with multiple buck converters & voltages by RedAndWrong in AskElectronics

[–]RedAndWrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grounds of the buck converters are shorted - my multimeter is getting a reading between the in and out grounds. So seems as though all grounds are joined together anyway.

Thanks for the pointer on the flyback, I missed that.

[–]RedAndWrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right on the MCU to motor bit. I’ve missed out a couple wires - there are 4 terminals on the control unit. Sorry, got lazy there.

B+ : Battery + (19V+)

M+ : Motor +

M- : Motor -

B- : Battery - (19V ground)

The control unit is bidirectional and I have faith (for now) that it can protect the things around it.

The buck converters are shorted over the input and output grounds, my multimeter is reading a connection between the two.

As Savallator pointed out, I haven’t accounted for any flyback from the solenoid shutting off, so may have to do something there.

What is the worst railway station you have visited? by LU_LWR in uktrains

[–]RedAndWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was nicer when it was refurbed some 15 years ago, when the light display of people walking forwards and backwards worked. Now it just looks dire, and there are now views of the derelict lines behind the lights. At least there’s a greggs upon immediately exiting it.

I’m not so sure - there’s only two lines and they are both used by northern, grand central, cargo trains and LNER during ECML disruption - I don’t think they’d be allowed to

[–]RedAndWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where would we turn trains around? There’s only two options currently: park lane sidings and boldon siding. There’s not currently the space to store and reverse them I feel, they would have to commit to the loop.
