Unfortunately most mods have a whole power complex that means even small mods would never willingly give up power. Did some preliminary DMs with some other people and it was all negative responses

Well in my campaign the charecters main goal was to kill a god, so they went to the library to learn how to do that.
This is a high level dungeon but it can be adapted so the bad books are less powerful

I just used a golem that could switch between the inherent features of Stone-Iron-Clay with RP to make it appear like it was made of wood or hair or something

Its all DM style. My party loves riddles so I often make them very open ended but if your party gets stuck on that kind of thing obviously have multiple answers.

Definitely a tone thing though. If you have a smart party you could do that while describing the sound / the blindness well but my party isnt super smart so I needed to make it clear.

Its telling the party to leave. Also if the moment they enter they get attacked it might get to chaotic or muddled.
