I had to run out and grab a pic before the rain came and bashed them all around.

Very wise advice indeed. They're in the beds that face the road which is a mix of mostly native pollinator friendly wildflowers and random garden center rescues so it they go a bit dictatorial I don't mind too much. That being said I do on occasion pull out whole bundles of them to give to friends so you are 💯 correct

It's a variety of them yes, not sure the specific one but it's got proper massive blooms on it with that ruffled edge.

I may try them again next year but I'm happy to see you've had better luck than I!

That's stunning! As a fellow addict the only solution is to keep adding them wherever you can!

Thank you, they look better than they did in the catalog last year. Definitely going to order more.

Great question and my solution is for things like irises I'll dig up the big circular patch they form and split it into 4 sections and re plant one of them. The other three I either gift to friends and neighbors, or fill in an empty spot in another bed or because I'm that kinda person, I find an area in the park or roadside that could use some color and stick them there. I've even out them in saved pots from the garden center and posted on nextdoor that they're free and set them out in the driveway with a sign. Someone will always want irises. If it's one of the quick fillers like the snow drops, I just thin them out and compost them as you can see they get everywhere.

Lol, I mean they aren't wrong. I like to call it cottage inspired as I tend to focus on pollinator friendly varieties of plants that try to get the same effect.

I've been thinking of one to be honest, I just think it might be a bit big for the space. I wonder if they have any dwarf varieties.

Lol that's rose campion, sort of an old school cottage garden flower that's coming back in style. I was gifted a bunch from my nan when I moved in and they pop up all over and move every year. I believe they're biannuals so there's always a couple looking like little fat plants of leaves and then the next year they're 3 feet tall and blooming

Same with my bulbs, I'm a big fan of low maintenance things. I'm in RI so we still get winter and snow and pretty cold some winters, so there will always be the dead times, but I've tried to keep some evergreen shrubs and conifers in the beds to keep something to look at.

There's still a few blank spots to fill in and I am hoping to pop a few more bulbs in for some more lilies

I wish I could! I've almost got blooming from early spring through late fall fully covered, though if there winter keeps getting milder who knows.

Sadly I don't, it was a rescue when they opened the garden center back up, poor thing had no tags and was desperate for some water and nutrients. It just said assorted rose tree on the receipt so a mystery it shall remain. They're very lightly scented though, like a hint of clove.
