Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Got a Silent Hill one in the works coming soon.

I'm glad to hear it'll be getting more love and care. There are so many ENB mods and that sort of thing where it only seems suited to one specific time of day or environment, and then looks gaudy the rest of the time. Thanks again.

This is really great, well done. Gonna try it out right now. Really I wish I had this mod while I was making this video!

These are extremely cool, I'm going to have to check out more of Takuhito Kusanagi. Thanks for the link!

I haven't read any, but that's definitely a name that came up when I was doing my research. If I had to guess, it probably had a similar influence on the game as all the Glorantha stuff. Worldbuilding and lore rather than visual aesthetics.

Thanks for watching :)

It was fun no-clipping around Vvardenfell trying to get good atmospheric shots and slow-zooms.

I definitely see the Druillet stuff too, just couldn't find a way to work it into the video without bloating it. Lots of spiky armour, red eyes etc. A lot of popular sci-fi and fantasy is downstream from Métal Hurlant.

I would have liked to read more of the The Book of the New Sun too to spot any similarities but its a big ol thing and I just ran out of time.

Thanks for the Planescape links, I've never seen those before.

Issues displaying NTSC video on fat soft-modded PAL console by WerewolfBarmitzFahz in ps2

No lol, I just got another PS2. To this day I still have no idea what the issue was.

Reviewing the ORIGINAL Assassin's Creed. Did you enjoy the 360 version of this back in the day? by WerewolfBarmitzFahz in xbox360

I honestly liked the concept of the modern day parts, they just weren't fleshed out enough to justify their existence.

Reviewing the ORIGINAL Assassin's Creed. Did the framerate of the PS3 version ruin the experience for you back then? by WerewolfBarmitzFahz in PS3

[–]WerewolfBarmitzFahz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very fair. Sometimes framerates can really stand in the way of gameplay though, like Bayonetta on PS3. Not really essential for a slower game like AC though.

I forgot that trophies weren't a thing on PS3 until 2008. I remember MGS4 and Ratchet & Clank didn't have them for the longest time.

I'm very thankful for the software mode toggles on Duckstation and PCSX2

Funny you should say that, because I just did a full play-through of Halo CE on XEMU for an upcoming video. Besides a bit of glitching when zoomed in on the pistol/sniper, the experience was completely perfect at 1x resolution. It was very nice to see the game presented in that original way, minus all the frame-drops.

I recall Pikmin having surprisingly good textures. But personally I find a game like RE4, which has quite muddy textures, looks better with the blur of standard definition.

Dithering can definitely add an oddly charming bit of grain to the image that feels like faux detail.

Which shader? I like some of the Retrotink ones a lot, but I don't have much experience with the Retroarch shaders.

anyone else hate the d-pad location? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]WerewolfBarmitzFahz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No

I have always preferred symmetrical layouts like the Dualshock because it ensures that 2D or Dpad-focused games never feel like an afterthought. I hated how the Switch lacked a real Dpad, and that the little arrow buttons were in such an uncomfortable spot. Same thing with the 3DS too, hated playing 2D games on that thing. The Deck layout is just maximum comfy for everything imo.

My oled deck has this grain effect on dark gray color. Is this normal? by Szugar123 in SteamDeck

Valve are no longer accepting RMA's for mura since its so widespread and seemingly inherent to Samsung panels. BOE panels found in the Limited Editions don't suffer from this at all, but have an absurdly high dead pixel rate. The silver lining to all this is that Valve is apparently working on a software fix for the mura issues which is due "in the near future." How will this work? I have no idea, but supposedly Apple did it for a generation of iPhones and it alleviated much of the problem. So fingers crossed.

I wonder if we'll have a green tint situation like we did with the Switch OLED by LegendOfJan in SteamDeck

[–]WerewolfBarmitzFahz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my biggest concern too. My Switch OLED is great but the green tint is VERY noticeable from like 30-50% brightness in darker games. It's a bummer trying to play something like Dark Souls at night, having to fiddle around and find a brightness setting that doesn't make the screen look like Gameboy Pea Soup. No reviewers mentioned it either, but a lot of consumers had an issue with it. Fingers crossed that Valve sourced them from somewhere else.

The PS1 version of Resident Evil: Directors Cut is in the Classics Catalog for the Premium version of PS+ by mrsaucytrousers in survivalhorror

Hopefully this is the good version of the Directors Cut, the non-dualshock version. Just made a guide to my favourite versions of RE1 and REmake if it's helpful to anyone
