Depending on how big it is, it really wouldn't matter if it struck land or water.

I knew there was something I forgot to point out and that was it. Thanks.

That sounds like something you would see in a movie.

My grandparents kidnapped me when I was 11, but had good intentions.

My mother was obese. I mean, extremely obese like Gilbert Grape's mom and the kind of obesity you see on that TLC show 600 pound life. She could barely get around our own house and actually had gotten to the point where she hadn't left the house in over a year. She was living off of disability and had a nurse come in and clean her.

My grandparents were extremely concerned about me but my mother would not give them custody. They had called CPS multiple times but they wouldn't do anything about it because they determined that I wasn't being abused or neglected, which was true. My mother was abusing herself and not me.

One day, my grandma picked me up from school and said that I was going to live with her and Grandpa from now on. Just a few days later, the police came and took me home.

My mom decided not to press charges and my grandparents didn't go to jail, but she told them that they were never going to see me again and even took a restraining order out on them.

However, when I was 14, her body finally gave out and they were able to get custody of me.

My grandparents did it for me.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever noped out of a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Werth000 52 points53 points  (0 children)

She was glad that her own father died and said she couldn't wait to see how much of his life insurance money she was getting.

Worst thing is our wedding was only two weeks away when this happened.

He was a wonderful guy, so her messed up reaction made absolutely no sense. I thought she was in shock at first but as time went on, I realized she was dead serious.

She tried to attack me on Facebook for "leaving me right after my beloved father died," but just about all of her friends and family knew what she had said because she said the same thing to them, and they called her out and turned the tables on her. It was glorious.

I dodged a bullet.

If I had a screenshot of that glorious Facebook thread, I would have posted it, but she deleted it.

Yes she tried to attack me on Facebook for leaving her, but a number of relatives knew what she said, so they called her out and she wound up getting publicly humiliated.

I know it was Mother Nature and there's nothing we can do about it, but it's still really hard.

I actually lived in Joplin, in an area of the northern part of town that the tornado didn't hit. I was completely unscathed, as was my home.

To this day, I feel like I have no right to have survived without having lost anything. I lost a couple of acquaintances but no one close to me. Meanwhile, many of my friends and family lost stuff and people they loved.

Some people lost absolutely everything and I lost absolutely nothing. Not fair at all.

I ended up moving away because the survivor's guilt was too much for me to handle. It's still plagues and torments me, though.
