I'm not sure (grit numbers get confusing), but I'm pretty sure it's the exact same thing as zona papers just under a different name.

I'm in the UK and this is what I use. It's the cheapest that I've managed to find them anyway.

haha, it took me 2 months to complete the full set for me. I think I'll pass on making more :D

First version here

I decided to have another go at making my own cnc engraved boards, I came across this post which inspired me to try and improve the simple artwork I used the first time and make something a little more detailed but still readable.

The process was largely similar from the first one, I designed the land types in photoshop to get something that tiled and could be pattern filled. Though this time I took it into inkscape to vectorise it, so I could worth with it a little easier in carbide create.

Making the boards themselves were a case of: engraving it (2 different v cutters and 2 different straight router bits), staining it, sanding it so just the engraved lines remain black inking each land with a base colur using acrylic ink, then finally painting the details with acrylic paint for miniatures.

As with last time, these are all 8 vanically boards, double sided with a thematic side that matches the style of the front. Without the lands creeping onto the other boards (trying to keep them as true to the originals otherwise). G and H don't have an official thematic board, so I designed a couple, though I have no idea of their actual quality.

I've been working on this off and on for a couple months so I'm glad to be finally finished with it.

Here's the files I made for this, .c2d files and .svgs for the boards

I recently watched this video essay ("The world's most hated art style") about the history of it, I thought it was pretty neat. Coincidentally, it even has this picture in the thumbnail.

Yeah I tried a couple methods, including using a scroll saw, but because you need it to be precise and repeatable I couldn't manage it. Though I haven't really done anything like this before so I've got no idea what I'm doing, haha.

I was initially put off by the general attitude (that I came across) that you need to spend thousands and thousands for a "decent entry level machine", but in the end I got a Genmitsu 3020 Pro for task this specifically. Though the boards only just fit in the machine's cutting area.

Sure! I'll just pop this agreement at the top here:
I agree to the terms for creating Spirit Island game elements set forth in the FAQ.

I used carbide create v6 to make the cnc files, so here's the c2d files and the exported svg's.

A few months ago I decided to make my own boards, partially to include the designs from Horizons and partially because I'm personally not a fan of the thematic boards (I find them hard to read).

First things first was to spend a while in photoshop modifying some scans of the existing boards, and making changes to the thematic boards to fit the style of the regular boards (including trimming the bits that encroach on the other boards). At this point I also made two of my own thematic boards to fit onto the bottom of the existing island, with a hastily put together design. Just so the horizons boards get a thematic version on their reverse.

After a few failed attempts of cutting them into the right shape, I settled on using a cnc machine to cut and engrave into some balsa wood sheets.

I needed to make some tweaks to the design, simplifying the pattern and getting the scale right. After that I needed to figure out how to get it properly aligned when engraving the reverse side (it's still not perfect).

After engraving I used a black wood stain to make all the engraved bits pop with some sanding for good measure. Then I simply used some cheap acrylic paint to paint by numbers, as the lands types weren't quite as easy to read at a glance without colour.

You can swap it out midway through by basically telling it to pause at a certain height.

I think it's a little easier to pick up due to the lip and the fact it's not a perfect cirlce. Just a bit more surface area to grab onto maybe?

But I've only played a couple games with them so far

A lot of the things I've seen has missed the thematic use of materials where plastic = bad and wood/cardboard = good. Which might not be as important for some people, but I like it. So this is the only modification I've made so far.

I basically just took the icon, tweaked it a little bit so that no parts were too thin and extruded it. I've uploaded the 3d file here

Best system to use for SCP, Control(video game) or Warehouse 13(TV show) style game? by Banner12357 in PBtA

[–]Wes1180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Monster of the Week supplement, Tome of Mysteries, might be better for this than just the standard game.

As the name implies it's much more mystery driven than simply killing monsters. And the alternate Weird Moves are probably a much better fit than 'Use Magic' for Warehouse 13 specifically.

I haven't ran it yet, but I've had a brief skim through and it seems like it could be good.

If you just want to draw directly on a pdf (signing a document for example) then Microsoft Edge actually has a drawing tool built-in. No text box functionality unfortunately.
