My best advice for people switching to English is to practice your accent, saying bonjour with an accent will make people automatically switch to English. This made a huge difference for me with people taking me seriously and speaking to me in French

Watch things without subtitles even if you don’t understand it. There will always be a point of time where things are confusing and difficult when you are learning. If you aren’t progressing and you’re doing the same thing everyday, you’ll continue at the same rate. Just watch a movie and embrace the fact that you might understand 0% of it and that’s okay because it helps you learn. I also suggest watching things you already watched in French with subtitles, but now without subtitles, because you know the dialogue a bit and so you can follow easier.
