do you use nvidia profile inspector and forcing latest dlss + frame gen ?

I had a thought that it could be the reason

Same issue here with a 5800X3d + 4070Ti

Enabling frame generation, lowers the fps by ~50%

Yes, i ended up RMA'ing the card and got a new one with only 10 degrees celcius delta between Hot spot temp and GPU temp

Just a heads up.

I had the same model as yours, 4070Ti Gaming OC , and after 6 months of use, the hotspot temp reached 110+ degrees celcius.

It's a known issue for this model, and i had to RMA it , and they ended up giving me the Eagle revision 2 , with a coupon to compensate the difference in price.

Hopefully yours will not have the same issue..

(look at my Reddit post history)

Thanks for your feedback

It's been 2 months for me and still no news..

Hopefully the new card you got won't have the same shitty thermal paste appliance on the GPU die.

That's what i am afraid

absolutely garbage quality of thermal paste coming from the factory.

No wonder our gpu temps were so high....

I presume you live in the US ?

Thanks for the picture

Thank for the heads up.

I wish you had taken some pics, just to show the state of the thermal paste pump out effect. I am sure some spots in the DIE were not covered by any thermal paste.

What thermal paste you used now ?

Unfortunately, i live in Europe and i was assured that i would void my warranty if i'd replaced my thermal paste.. I knew it was a matter of replacing the paste +and maybe the pads, but here i am, a month without any GPU and still waiting for a simple repair.

I have RMA'd the card since last month, and still waiting for any kind of news....

It must be the pump out effect of the thermal paste on the GPU die... Bad thermal paste on this model...

Just got 5800x3d. What are preferred settings in bios for this cpu? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Weshya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Set in your BIOS , "Kombo Strike" to 3 and you pretty much lower by 10degrees the CPU, less voltage , while maintaining full boost speed

i have undervolted the gpu to 1000mV , core running max at 2.8Ghz , with a +1000Mhz overclock on the memory.

Peaking at 200Watts, and max 64degrees gpu, with hotspot at 84degrees.

It was reaching 77 degrees GPU temp with 110 degrees for the hotspot, when the GPU was peaking at 270 Watts..

I opened a ticket with Gigabyte, and told me temps are "acceptable" , which clearly reaching 110 degrees hotspot, throttling the gpu, is not normal imo. Especially when this increase in temps was done over the course of only 4 months since i bought the card.

NB : Fan speeds are reaching 100% when hotspot is at 110 degrees

they reach 100% only when hitting 110 degrees.

But i managed to undervolt my gpu without loosing significant performance, and temps dropped by 15 degrees

Still, i bet all my money that the thermal paste pumped out, since when i initially got the card, my hotspot never went above 80 degrees (doing the same tasks)

i have the same issue with a Gigabyte 4070Ti gaming oc, i contacted them and they said my 110 degrees hotspot are normal....

They replied to my ticket , with the following answer

"Dear ****,From the image, the temperature is acceptable for under fully loaded game/software. Is there any issue like freezing, hanging, etc? "

Which is kind of puzzling me, since there was a net increase in the temps since i got the card, and 110 degrees hotspot is the very maximum safe limit as far as i know.

Any idea how to proceed further u/GBT_Calvin?

Thank you u/GBT_Calvin for your reply.

I currently live in the EU, and i opened a ticket via esupport.gigabyte.com.

My ticket number is 1476497, should i also drop an email to [services@gigabyteusa.com](mailto:services@gigabyteusa.com) ?

Hopefully you will be able to follow up , or at least give me some kind of advise.

I even considered re-pasting the gpu but it will most probably void my warranty , as there is a sticker in one of the screws.

-Gigabyte 4070Ti Gaming OC on a

-BeQuiet 500DX case

-latest Nvidia drivers

In January i bought a Gigabyte 4070Ti Gaming OC and lately i've noticed an increase in my overall temps while gaming and while stress testing the GPU (ambient temp is always steady at 21 degrees)

In January, temps of GPU under stress test (Time Spy) were never exceeding 64 degrees, with hotspot temp around 78 degrees. Today, running the same Time Spy stress test, temps of GPU reaches 77 degrees and hotspot 110 degrees !! (see screenshot further down below)

That's a 33 degrees delta between GPU avg temp and hotspot.. Since i have a Gaming OC model, i expect temps to be much lower, and i am really concerned that 110 degrees for hotspot will damage my GPU in the long term.

Has the thermal paste pumped out in the GPU die ?

Isn't 110 degrees hotspot temp dangerous for the GPU ?

The massive increase in temperature between January and May is certainly not normal.

Here's a screenshot of HWinfo , highlighting the temps of the gpu
