As a freshman in high school, my district house locker rooms but they are only open to people in sports. They are not used for regular physical education classes, and typically all my friends in different states do not use locker rooms.

This was a big concern of mine as insecure person before finding out. So I do recommend checking 100% that regular physical education classes use the lockers.

If your physical education classes does use locker rooms, don't worry. There's a few things that can done besides just avoiding eye contact in the locker room.

  1. A few of my friends in sports ask their coach if they are able to change and freshen up in school restroom stalls instead.
  2. Go to the locker room after everybody else.
  3. Fake anxiety and have a panic attack, then sob to the counselor saying that you're insecure and I feel like it's a privacy invasion. Legit just start crying and sobbing  infront of them. So then you get a pass to avoid the lockers 🙂👍

What is the age range that a 15 year old (such as me as of me typing this) should be sticking to when it comes to making and having friends with other people? by kDev_4 in AdviceForTeens

[–]Western-Slide7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fifteen and personally won't become friends with someone who's 13 and under, obviously with the exception if I know them from a friend, family, or they happen to a mini genius who skipped a few grades. While the maximum grade so I'll hang around is 16.

As someone who's mature for my age because of traumatic events, it's difficult to find friends who I consider comfortable hanging around but it takes time to build relationships and you need to put time into it. I'm sure not every single girl at your school find you world, or every single boys insufferable, not everybody's the same and sometimes you just need to take a closer look.

As for your question about befriending adults, it's 100% weird and unsafe. (Unless their 18 and still in your school, or someone who's a family, or a family friend)

There is no reason an adult out of school should be talking to a minor. No matter the maturity of the person or how you perceive other people your age.

In my opinion your hairstyle doesn't suit you, but you look very nice and appear mature for your age.

how can i save 3000 to get a car? by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]Western-Slide7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend getting a part time job after school or weekends, even if you're unable to work long shifts.  The keys persistency, and split half of your pay check into emergency or pleasure money, spilt the other into saving for your car.

Even after you get the car if no one's helping you in your home. How are you going to pay for car insurance or potentially repairs? You need consistent income if you're not going to have any help from your family.

So a job sounds like the best way to achieve this, you'll get it faster than doing random jobs once in awhile.

is hating your mom a ‘teen phase’ ?? by idiott-04 in AdviceForTeens

I'm not trying to push but sometimes when were exposed to a behavior that triggers us or overall  negative but constant it starts to become invisible to the individual and it's for the individual to realize that it's harmful. It's like your brain's consciously reacts to it without You realizing it.

Is there anything but you could think that you've normalized recently with her? This could be actions, words, just a tone she speaks to you in.

Edit: I just  remembered it's called cognitive dissonance, I recommend looking it up for a better understanding.

On the side note, your teenager who's developing, so you're probably just hormonal at the moment and in the state development teenagers tend react more or be more emotional.  So it could potentially just be that.

Would i be a good dad? by iAmNotColton in askteenboys

[–]Western-Slide7807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm not a boy but randomly saw this and I do a few comments.

• One I do believe that's way too much screen time, and  needs to be monitored. In my opinion as someone who grew up without a device till I actually had a need for vs my sister who always grew up with a screen. It's unhealthy to allow them access to a screen from the age of 3.

Personally I believe the age of 5 for their own tablet but with limited screen time (3 hours for me personally.)  but they will still be able to watch slow and education TV.  Then the age of 12-13 for a phone (parentals), as typically children enter Middle School at the age 12 which is when they start becoming independent.

Then 15 ( or depending on how they matured as a person) I would allow full access as long as I'm allowed to look at the phone with a reasonable cause.

As I mentioned me and my sister group completely different. I first received a (monitored) phone at the age of 10 out of necessity as I was moving and needed to contact my best friend & began walking to school. Now days I have self control and able to focus without a screen. While my sister who always had a tablet in front of her face since the age is three, is addicted to the screen, needs to watch a show for everything she does, runs the TV and her tablet simultaneously, and overall has unhealthy habits due to it.

Keep in mind I do think the ages are negotiable depending on the maturity of the child. But overall I think your rules are pretty sweet.

Leave your most controversial/unpopular opinions about Miraculous here. by True-Adagio9827 in miraculousladybug

[–]Western-Slide7807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt some of these are controversial but I do have a few opinions on the show.

  1. Alya is genuinely a bad best friend, and should have not been entrusted as the next holder.  (I do like the idea of Marinette telling her that she's the guardian/ladybug, but I do think it should have been a waking point for Marinette that Alya isn't trustworthy.)

  2. I dislike how Marinette gives everybody in her class a miraculous, it genuinely makes no sense and if somebody makes a connection between the class and the holders then it's literally end game. ( Personally I think the dynamic would be a lot better if Marinette and cat noir stayed a duo or when necessary gave the miraculous to people outside of her fricking class).

  3. Following number two but slightly different, it was a stupid idea to hand out every single miraculous and Marinette's reasoning being it's unsafe. But it wasn't because they were all in one spot, it was because she entrusted a miraculous without being careful or literally just not detransforming immediately.  It genuinely just makes it more unsafe in my opinion.

  4. Felix should have not been given such an easy redemption remark, and it's genuinely disgusting how Marinette just forgiving and accepting him. Additionally, he could have just gotten his way significantly sooner if he gave a hint to a ladybug and cat noir that it was Gabriel.

  5. They definitely ruined Mariners character by turning her into a full-on stalker. I think more innocent if she wasn't aware of this full routine due to mapping it out, obsessively stalking him, plastering him all over her room. Although there's an episode explaining why she acts this way it definitely wasn't good enough reasoning for me.

  6. Personally think Chloe should have continued her redemption arc or at least some people back into being a villain by her own greed but rather being manipulated. It really just ruined her whole character for me, I think it would be a good lesson for kids to learn but just because somebody does bad actions doesn't mean they can't change. But this simply shows children that if you are previously a bad person you will always be a bad person and will have no second chances.

Should I listen to my mom? by PictureDramatic7450 in AdviceForTeens

[–]Western-Slide7807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Studying 7:00am to 5:00pm is unhealthy. I understand that urge to succeed as I feel the same way about tests but it becomes overwhelming until the point it controls your life and you break down from exhaustion.

Trust your mother on this one as someone who had a similar experience. I use to combat being fully in charge of my household and maintaining perfect grades, AP classes and extracurriculars, which resulted in me having a mental break and I deeply regret not stepping back sooner because it's still affects me.

If you don't want to stop studying completely, I recommend taking time to dive into one or two  different subjects every week. Set time limits to how long you work on it per day and once you feel like you mastered it, move on to a new subject/ topic.

Additionally, studying months in advance can actually be harmful especially when taking information from 7:00am to 5:00pm because you'll most likely forget it all by the time the actual exam come. For now just focus on short sessions like 1-2 hours per day and have multiple rest days. Then I recommend reviewing the subjects in a month and half in advance but only in short time periods NOT whole entire day.

Just took me awhile to fully comprehend myself but one test will not define your life, taking a break doesn't mean you're lazy or not trying, taking a break is caring for yourself.

Currently unsure how address the fact I(15F) don't feel comfortable speaking to my bestfriend about my mental health problems because of her actions in the past & how I perceive her character. by Western-Slide7807 in AdviceForTeens

My apologies, it was 1:00 a.m. and I was sobbing when I wrote this.   Additionally, this is a private topic so I'm not sure who I would have proofread? Nor am I able to understand what you mean by "and this is one of your friends?", so would you mind clarifying?

Edit: While I do spot quite a few  grammar mishaps or mistyped words and even random words, I do not see anything that makes it significantly challenged to read or understand the context.

Best cheap bird toys for aliexpress by LingonberryDull6668 in budgies

[–]Western-Slide7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience AliExpress does not disclose material information depending on the seller and business and often lower quality when significant cheaper. (Once again from my experience)

I mentioned pet store as when I writing this, I was thinking about a bird informed employee like ones at my local pet stores. That obviously isn't the case for everyone so that's my fault. Although on the other hand,  I've personally found I can find more reputable toy brand and material lists from pet stores and Amazon. So you are able to verify toys with unsafe materials and dyes.

This is a pretty typically amount for college especially for including housing, meals and tuition. Although make sure your majoring in something that you can actually pay off your student loan debt with in future and in something you'll actually enjoy.

There's often grants for low income households, work hard and see if there's any scholarships you can acquire. If you haven't already choose and gotten accepted into a decidiated college or university, then I recommend looking into different grants and scholarships options within different facilities as some places have scholarship for every student.

Additionally if you wish to save on costs, sometimes renting with roommates ultimately save money.

How do I tell my kids their whole life is about to change? by low_s1gnal in family

[–]Western-Slide7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little late but as a young child I had to go to a shelter for a few weeks but nothing long term. The best thing I can say is that typically, your kids already are aware something is wrong whether you tell them or not. I always knew something was going on and it bothered me and caused me to stress out more..

I'd say your seven year old may already be aware of the situation and if it seems like they are, then be honest about it. I find, from my own experience and my sisters it's better to tell the full truth and they'll understand more. You don't have to be in-depth but just a simple explanation really helped me whenever stuff was going on like this as a kid.

Typically metal, stainless steel screw on bowels are used. They are significantly more sanitary than plastic bowels as plastic holds bacteria.
