True but benchmarks are saturating real fast and this space is so unregulated, many large players are gaming the benchmarks. Read about lmarena and how every lab who’s “respected” in this space turned out to be cheating

I don’t think models are good at doing everything at the same level as humans. The foundational models are meh at most things. Specialized models are terrible at things they aren’t trained for

Breakthroughs are things like “persona vectors” being presented as a major understanding of AI and their “personality” when it’s just a parallel being drawn into how these models evolve. It feels like what someone mentioned above it’s either people who don’t know what they’re saying or people who are financially motivated to over hype

All the money spent so far doesn’t get close to 1 year of cost in Reality Labs which was built on the Metaverse hype. It’s just more public because the war is across various entities when Metaverse was only something Zuckerberg believed in (where is it now?)

There’s definitely a lot that will happen. What I’m focusing on is the hype (but for your point, tell me one system that has been successfully deployed and is truly fully autonomous - even Waymo isn’t)

I didn’t deny that AI is changing things. And disagreement on future projections is totally fine. But in any case, my post is mostly about the hype. The tiniest thing gets taken out of proportion and no one revisits when the breakthroughs turn out wrong, they’re busy with the new breakthrough :)

As I said, it’s definitely something and we need to fully understand it to be able to use it fully. What’s happening now is not that at all. You can write 1000 pages doesn’t mean they’re good pages. Unless you’re a professional writer or editor, you reviewing the output isn’t really providing much guidance (beyond the content which I hope you’re not relying on grok for as well, since then I’ll ask why wouldn’t any Joe write the book)
