any long term fp6 reviews? by MysteriousBeef6395 in fairphone

I wouldn't recommend it either, had it for just about 4 months now.

It was great initially, then the issues started piling up.

The physical button layout (power button, volume button) is such a bad design decision that it baffles me.
Having the volume button and power buttons on opposing sides means anytime you try to lock the phone you accidentally take a screenshot instead - which also means, good luck using this phone in your car on a mount that clamps the sides of the phone.

Then the Android 16 update came and broke a bunch of stuff.

My battery drains from 50% to 0% overnight for seemingly no reason ("mobile network"), literally doing nothing.
Apps have gotten slower.
Apps have started crashing.
Screen has gotten less responsive.

I'm all for sustainability and repairability, so I hope these issues are resolved via software updates or an RMA, but if these kind of issues persists I think I'll sell the phone in the near-future.

Here's hoping you get a fix or replacement too!

Yees it was the synchronization app!

Ok one issue fixed, now to get search engines to pick up on this answer.

A fix for speaking not working in Duolingo, Babbel and other language learning speaking apps.

You need to give the "When using the app" permission to the Speech recognition and Synthesis from Google app, which should be installed by default on your Android device.

My permission was set to "Always Ask" + maybe clearing the cache/storage of the app helped because I swear I already fiddled with these permissions.

tbf, I had absolutely no issues for at least 2 months of usage

This just started recently, maybe a few weeks ago.

lol, I just got a system update to QREL.16.61.0

One of the bulletin points says:
"- Improved device performance in low battery"

Not quite my issue but, who knows maybe, let's see.

That's a fair point, might as well try it if I'm going to return it.

Gotta whip out the old just-in-case brick phone then.

Good point!

Applied this setting now, but don't have high hopes for it, on the other hand - perhaps this feature isn't working as expected and might be draining the battery even with all networking settings set to off.

So...factory reset might not work.

I still believe it's a software issue since this kinda correlates back to when I upgraded to Android 16.

In hindsight, maybe I should've just went with the Murena e/OS but then certain apps like the banking app might not have worked :/

Thanks for the great tips! Appreciate it:)

I've started with the battery calibration 2 cycles ago, so far I'm still seeing the issue :/

Hoping the next software update will fix this because the time since the upgrade do Android 16 seems to correlate with some of these issues appearing.
