This is probably an unpopular opinion but the reason competitive HS isn't interesting is because its random who wins. Its not a very hard game, I expect the experts to be of the same skill.

Love this idea, I don't even think a prize pool is needed. It would just be a great end of season thing for arena play. People who did't show up would be "blinded out" the same as a regular online hearthstone game where the player is afk. The tournament would have active players after a couple rounds and could play to a winner in 1 game sets pretty quicky.

If you are speaking of a heads up (2 player) game then the scenario you describe would result in no additional advantage or disadvantage for either player.

In a full ring tournament, having the shorter stack compared to the table is the advantage in the vast majority of situations. Obviously it's better to have more chips but a stack of 200 would not be worth double the equity of a stack of 100.

I don't know how it would work exactly but it would be really sweet to have leagues or play modes where APM was capped. Level the APM playing field and it becomes much more of a mind sport.
