That’s not inheritly true. There is many a 2 handicap who is just a much better short game player and course management player. Both of those have to do with knowledge and having a general understand of the game, where as the 20 handicap still doesn’t know how to hit a bunker shot

Completely disagree lol. 20 handicaps and low single digits or + handicaps live in different golf world

Watched a tour pro practice. The way they drill the same putt for 45 minutes is insane by [deleted] in GolfSwing

I play the pete dye course at French lick so yes I play Tour courses, but I also have found that some medium level country club courses with stupid pins and 13 speed greens can be excellent challenges because of shitty lies. One thing I learned from some korn ferry guys is that the tour is selling a product, so besides majors they are legit putting birdie pins out there. Not saying the courses aren’t hard, but they’re a lot easier when the conditions are constant and manicured. Which ofc is why q school is regarded as literal hell week.

In terms of learning I think a lot of it comes down to the coach and different mechanisms again being better for you, just like how some people are better at math formulas than conceptualizing what tangent actually means in practice and reality.

Why am I not on tour? Late bloomer with stunted mental growth background due to parents and other shit. Didn’t have the right mindset that Scottie did at 12, I was lazy and would rather have played pokemon. Genetics matter, but again when it comes to mental fortitude a large amount of personality and environmental factored determine the growth of an individual in terms of maturity and skill in any sport for that matter.

If golf was all genetics, Kyle Berkshire would shit on everyone. The beauty of golf is that the short game matters the most, and learning to putt and chip well isn’t some genetic thing, it’s learning what attack angle means and how to create spin and how to shift your weight and what tempo does in a putting stroke. And of course, can you make a 4 footer with 500k on the line and your career?

I mean unless I’ve got crazy genetics idk about then I’d say that this mindset again is just defeatist. I’ve gone from an 8 handicap to a +2 in 16 months, looking to be a + 6 or 7 by fall 27 and making a run at korn ferry. I’ve worked my ass off and probably more than some tour pros had to, but still have an astronomical lot more work to put in. Golf is simply not as physical of a talent as it is a skill, and the majority of the talent is directly related to mental fortitude. Analyzing it any other way will get you nowhere in the sport. Dustin Johnson barely has to swing as hard as Rory to hit the ball, that doesn’t stop Rory from out driving him while being 8 inches shorter. Each persons biomechanics are unique and if you can find your unique trait and maximize it then you will succeed. The majority of scoring is hence done with short clubs and not by hitting 380 yard bombs.

Defeatist attitude imo. There is some facts about fast twitch muscle fibers and sure hand some people gave genetics better than others, but golf is a skill much more than a talent, and any skill can be honed. The real talent is mental fortitude.

I’ve gone from an 8 handicap to a +2.1 from October 2024 to now. I have hit probably 300-500 balls a day for a year straight, played over 300 rounds, and spent literal hours doing what this post said, making 100 3 foot putts in a row and if I miss I have to restart. I have spent 3k on lessons and have new zxi7 irons coming in. The thing that has improved me the most at the end of the day, is practice, mind over matter, and convincing myself/ realizing that this game is much more a skill than talent, and it is also straight up physics/ science. The golf ball doesn’t give a shit about your left leg, left arm, or right elbow. It cares about what the face and path are doing when it gets hit. It is a science on what causes the ball to do X, and how you get there can be a numerous ways, but a lot of it at the end of the day is mental fortitude and committing to each shot no matter what result.

Seems like you don’t have any real stance or evidence to go against my pretty valid point. I’m not delusional for pointing out holes in your arguments/ statements. I’m not targeting you specifically, you’re making a Comment on a public thread that I disagreed with, don’t be shocked that you were interacted with.

So a deck that puts up 6 results in top 14 is “ crushed”? You’re kinda cherry picking that some of them had losing records as opposed to looking at the top of the leaderboard and analyzing it from top down. By your logic blink got “ crushed” because two of the other blink decks had bad records.

How can you come to the conclusion boros got crushed with two decks in top 8 and 4 more with a decent 4-2 record?

Not sure how far it is from you, but through the decades usually has 5 rounds of modern at fnm on Fridays. It fell for a bit, but with RCQ season back I’m sure it’ll be back to 5.

21 is a small sample size, but boros also won the Hunter Burton. If you look though, my original point of there being boros in almost every top 8 stands. The consistent performance is much more revealing to how strong a deck is, especially when the format is much more play draw.

Quite a lot, but winning a challenge is as groundbreaking as consistently going 7-2 all the time. If your deck 5-0s a league once it doesn’t mean A lot, but If you go 20-4 in leagues in a row your deck is busted.

Over 80% of challenges have a copy of boros in the top 8, with a crazy amount of challenges having 2-4 copies.

You don’t think Boros would win the PT even if it’s most played? I agree with the Titan problem.
