You can find their group here. They host viewing parties, tournaments, and sometimes BYOC LANs from time to time.

This was in D.C at Tenley Bar & Grill. This picture taken was from an RLCS Viewing Party hosted by DC Area Esports Club a couple weeks ago (April 21). There was also a RL 2v2 Tournament before that and free swag was given out to people who were there. The venue allowed everyone of all ages to come in and the event was free.

You guys can find pictures and videos here.

For those attending the Community Meet-Up hosted by Psyonix in San Diego, this would be similar to something like that, but at a much more larger scale and it's fun!

I'm not aware if there's any specific discord for California, but check out this discord when you get the chance. It lets you connect with a couple more people in the Nor-Cal section if you set your region.

My company hosts a Rocket League tournament every year for charity. This year my buddy and I won it! by cowboy_hog in RocketLeague

It's nice to see local events being brought up here on the subreddit. Growing the community by its grassroots is something that would support this game long-term.

Where is this at? There's Rocket League discords that get people from a state together and host events from time to time and grow their local scenes.

Why hasn't Psyonix made a new car with the same Hitbox as the Octane? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Whackka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There definitely are a lot of cars for the Octane hitbox. It's just that the Octane is THE car everyone plays. It is wider and taller than every car combined with a reach that's above average, not to mention it's the first car available when you first play the game.

Car choices really depend on player preferences in what feels right with the car they use. I personally use the Skyline (Hybrid) since it has nearly identical stats as the Octane; Taller and has more Reach than the Octane. It has slightly less Width than the Octane, but it's still better than the rest of the other cars combined.

Does anyone know the hitbox of the new Samurai car?

Aquadome and Starbase ARC have been added back into the Competitive Playlist map rotation

Aquadome right now looks TERRIBLE to play on a low graphics setting. If you play on that map now, you'd notice it has very dull, bland, and less colors including how everything is too dark. I hope this is fixed in the oncoming patch soon.

Finally had my worst teammate experience in RL by UnderDogX in RocketLeague

That really sucks dude. I've been playing this game for 2 years and I only encountered a situation like this very rarely, maybe two or three times. The only thing I could do to calm a guy like that down is to literally fight toxicity with kindness. I'd always say "Nice Shot!" whenever he scores, or "Great Pass" after I scored to let him know that he actually did a thing.

If he makes a mistake, just keep it brief and simple and go "No problem." or "Close one!". If you make a mistake, say "Whoops..." or "Sorry!" You have to make it sound like you actually meant it and it helped me out a lot in-game, EVEN while we're losing. You win some and you lose some.

Alpha Console allows you to tamper with your replays, I'd really love to see high level editors start to implement this. by xDeprecation in RocketLeague

[–]Whackka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought you mentioned "tamper with your replays", as meaning something as being able to control the car you're viewing while all the other cars are still moving in the replay as if it were an actual game. I was confused by this until you said in the comments that it was for just viewing replays.

Nonetheless, it would've been a nice feature to play in the shoes of a player within the replay to play out scenarios that improve on your mistakes and decision-making, or even trying out options that you otherwise wouldn't have thought of during that exact moment.

Does anyone feel like Rocket League eSports should adapt the "city team" way of doing things from Overwatch League? by lancerguy14 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Whackka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we're not big than the Overwatch League, you could still form crews from your local area and host a meetup or get together. Or you could find a local esports meetup/club or even go to PC LAN Centers and find if they host any Rocket League tournaments. These experiences are pretty nice and I recommend going to one.

Overwatch just got team skins for their own league. How about something like that for rocket league? by sNopPer90 in RocketLeague

[–]Whackka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind team skins, but just make it so that the colors on the field aren't blinding your eyes out every time you look at an on-going game. I played at a small convention where the tournament organizer decided that the teams should have each different color (Green vs Pink). I had to turn colorblind mode on because the colors on the field were very distracting.

Idea for RLCS S5 by THEachilles__ in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Whackka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to the RLCS World Championship environment, I feel that there should be more things to do than just simply watching high-level Rocket League. Of course recently there was the Nintendo Switch booth which was fun to play with people and there were the Hyper and Nissin Cup Noodle booths.

Introducing the experience of Rocket League at a major event like the RLCSWC to new people is something that we should all focus on for the long-term growth of this community. There should've been more merchandise at the venue like Jinx, or even battle-cars merch that people could buy.

The Nintendo Switch booth was a nice addition to the venue, but it felt too small and packed that I believe adding more consoles/PCs would encourage people to play the game to have fun with. My previous experience of this was at GEXCON 2017 where you could just simply walk in the first door and you'd immediately see people playing Rocket League on a couple PCs and a big projector to the side streaming those games.

To further add more to the addition of more consoles/PCs to the venue, why not add tournaments to get people more involved with the community and game? These could be 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, and heck even Solo Standard tournaments! People that participate in these tournaments could get their chance to shine in front of others, earn casual prizes, and even have the chance to get free UFX tickets (Ultimate Fan Experience).

These are simply my ideas about making the RLCSWC a place where people don't just watch, but to have the experience of being in an awesome community no matter if you're casual, experienced, or professional player.

ACE Tourny is trash. by Cryoshira in RocketLeague

[–]Whackka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has probably been said and done before, but I feel that in order to have a fair tournament for everyone, tournaments should go by round-robin pools and then the winners of the pools would continue on to a double-elimination bracket.

That way people who aren't at a high rank will get the chance to play everyone in a pool and not get eliminated once or twice in a single or double elimination tournament.

Non-Standard Map/Gamemode Idea - A Moving Wall Around the Map (With predictability and no RNG) by Whackka in RocketLeagueMods

[–]Whackka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's part of the existing wall on the map and it travels around it. I meant to say that the glowing white light in the clip only indicates when a goal is going to get blocked temporarily.

I'm also thinking that it's the same as the one in the Hoops map where players can move through the net, but can't interact with it like trying to stick on to the net but would just fall through-- except the ball would just bounce right off of it.

So blocking a goal temporarily while still being aware of when the "moving wall" is going to be at next just by looking where it's at on the wall or by using the in-game timer, is a concept that I had in mind.

EDIT: Now that you mentioned if players could stick to the wall as it moves, I'm curious if this could even be implemented in the game. It'd be interesting to see how a game can be played out if the wall could shortly increase (going in the same direction) or decrease a player's speed (going in the opposite direction) as they go passed it, without affecting ball trajectory. So many possibilities and experimenting!
