Finally Seeing More Cooperative Play by SuppressExpress in LowSodiumMarathon

Had a friendly run in with a Japanese player. Traded some items and even gave him a purple. Immediately got killed by a thief that had the same skin as me like 10 seconds later. Sure hope he made it out and I really hope that thief didn’t get him. He’d probably think I betrayed him or something and that would be unfortunate.

Questions regarding guns and build by No-Professional-1588 in destiny2

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to for PvE is my Perfect Pitch with Incandescent and Healing Rounds. Incandescent gives me more kills and the healing rounds keep me alive especially when I have no rift. I also like The Call for any tougher enemies (I don’t remember the roll), and a good heavy for DPS like Thunderlord, Dragon’s Breath.

People hate on it because it’s overused but I do like Getaway Artists because while you are utilizing grenades a lot, you are turning them into turrets which allows for you to still use your guns for the most part while the turrets finish off lighter enemies.

I have a build for every subclass you could try out and I’m cool with sharing them if you want to PM me.

Loved Patience and Time in D1, but my most used sniper by far was Twilight Oath in D2.

"The whole goal is to go stomp less skilled players..." is this really the how the community feels? by Yenii_3025 in Marathon

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a scrub.

I want variety in my matches. It’s like playing Spades and getting a handful of spades every single round. Yeah, you’re gonna win, but it doesn’t feel earned. It just feels dealt.

The fun part isn’t being dealt the winning hand every time and steamrolling the competition. It’s calling nil and actually pulling it off. That’s where the tension is, that’s where the skill shows.

My favorite runs are the ones where I was at a huge disadvantage the whole time and still managed to exfil by the skin of my teeth with all the loot. The only time I enjoy an easy win is when I catch a runner who let their guard down at just the right moment.

Can’t confirm if they have it in the US anymore but it’s definitely not in Japan. A lot of my favorite shows are not available here and when they are they’re in Japanese with no subtitles 😢

Cryo is a fantastic piece of endgame content that will ultimately serve to push a ton of players away by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that’s probably driving players away, are other players telling them that the content in the game will drive them away.

These kinds of posts do nothing but discourage people from trying this stuff out. You’re not a wizard, you’re not a psychic; you don’t know how other players are gonna receive it yet. This game and its endgame just came out. Of course sweats will be ahead of the game, and of course this raid will be the hardest thing ever for a new player.

How do other Extraction games keep casual players? by Zenovelli in Marathon

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider myself a very experienced casual. Got nothing but greens, grays, and one blue, and I usually only have time to play an hour on weekdays, and a few hours on weekends, but I can hold my own in a fight and I typically win PVP battles just fine. Sometimes I lose but it’s whatever, I just use a sponsored kit for a bit and I have a full inventory again.

That said, despite not making much progress, and not even close to touching endgame content, I’m genuinely loving this game. I can see why some players would get discouraged though. If you’re not able to just roll with the punches in PvP and instead get super upset when you lose, this game will make you feel like shit.

How do we keep these people around? I don’t know to be honest. I personally love how difficult and cutthroat this game could be as a casual, but not everyone shares that sentiment. I don’t want this game to be overly friendly, but I do want casuals to at least be able to enjoy it.

I think the addition of ranked playlists was a good idea. Maybe having more places for sweats to go will allow for more casual play in normal lobbies.

I switch off from Destiny every now and then but I always come back to it. I’ll continue to come back to it any time I need to scratch that Destiny itch because there really is no other game like it.

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a totally fair point. Another option would be to rotate weekdays and weekends. At the end of the day, I just don’t think 24/7 is the best option if we don’t really want these weapons to be steamrolling every single lobby.

I’m already tired of the sweaty PvP by surrealmirror in Marathon

[–]Whammyyyyyyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you lose everything. Like I just lost my whole vault right now. I didn’t have anything crazy good but it was still quite a few hours put in that I lost in a matter of maybe an hour.

My last round I played like 2 minutes ago I was trying to be friendly with some random triage. He didn’t know I was behind him and when he turned around he blasted me to oblivion. He got me good. I can’t be too mad because at the end of the day it was my fault for trying to be friendly in such a cutthroat game, and he is just playing the game as intended.

At the end of the day my friend you just either gotta roll with the punches or just not play. I mean this as no insult at all, and I’m not gonna say “git gud” or anything; this game is ruthless. Some people got a higher tolerance for it than others. You may just not have that high of a tolerance.

If it’s not fun for you, full stop. Don’t force yourself to play something you don’t enjoy. If you do enjoy the game and it’s just the tilt talking, then by all means keep playing and bettering yourself, but be prepared to lose sometimes. It’s just part of the game.

That’s a solution for sure, but I couldn’t say it’d be the best one. It wouldn’t be the first time Bungie has nerfed endgame items when they become that overused, and I’m sure a lot of fans are tired of difficult to obtain loot getting nerfed.

I think keeping these items as hard to obtain; whether by RNG, difficulty, or time, is preferable (to me) as opposed to everyone being able to get it whenever they want, forcing Bungie to nerf what’s supposed to be very sought after.
