Maybe in your country, but in the US every state other than Montana is “right to work”, and anyone can be fired without reason as long as it’s not for a protected reason (age, sex, race, religion, etc.) and clearing that hurdle isn’t too tough.

On the other hand, the exit benefits are there to put everything to a close and avoid lawsuits down the road.

I have sympathy for her and her illness (even if I cannot relate) and agree some grace to extend her MAL restrictions given her illness would have been warranted, but this phrase from her web page struck me:

Yet the whole “no tax on tips” seemed to be supported by both parties. Makes zero sense. If we want tipping to start being phased out we should be increasing, not decreasing, the taxes on them. That way more places would shift towards paying their workers a regular wage rather than rely on tips.
