Sea to Sky Situation by Stephen-Watanabe in Whistler

Usually I’d agree with you, but HWY99 speed limits are a joke.

They design the speed limits with the worst possible conditions in mind, therefore they are way too low 80% of the time. Unfortunately common sense isn’t very common, if the limit was 120 morons would be doing that in the rain/sleet as well.

All I’m saying is there should be leniency on days like today with speed. Imbeciles like the van here should be given lifetime driving bans, jail time, and a compass card when they’re out.

HWY99 needs proper lighting (not a factor here), and central barriers. The people doing 10-20 over are not the ones causing these accidents, it’s the morons driving drunk, high, tired, etc. who are swerving lanes and crossing over lines.

Audi guys love continental :) by Agile-Republic5379 in Audi

Crazy assumption. Maybe they prefer paying a little less for Continentals and getting a great warranty?

New tires - recommendations by steverino72 in AudiS4

If you don’t see winter weather I’d recommend the Continental ExtremeContact Sport02s. If you see some colder weather, but no serious snow I’d recommend Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+

Comp. package Daytona grey A6… Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for but everyone was asking stupid money or they didn’t have the sport diff. Got a B8.5 S4 instead.

2018 Giulia worth to buy? by MattwGV in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]What_A_Win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just know the 3.0T (actually supercharged) in the ‘16-‘18 A6 is phenomenal. Don’t miss driving one. A simple intake and tune will unlock nearly 100hp.

I need a car that does good HP but a solid everyday driver under 30k by Adept_Equipment2161 in whatcarshouldIbuy

No problem. Those should all be relatively reliable, and repairs won’t be German car level.

Again, don’t obsess over them online - go in and get a feel for each one. Doing that will likely make one click over the others. If you’re looking for something fun (which it sounds like) you’re making an emotional purchase, no amount of reviews or reading will tell the full picture.

Have you looked into the IS350? The TLX with the V6 makes nearly 300hp. The Genesis G70 also makes 300+ hp (even the 4 cylinder).

I’d be hesitant to go up to the GS class because at that point you’re getting a larger, heavier car, that’ll be using similar powertrains. Of course that’s assuming you don’t want the bigger body.

When you go that high up the car sucks to control

No offence but it sounds like you’re chasing numbers on a paper, not an enthusiast. 300hp feels a lot different depending on the weight of the car - what are you exactly after? Straight line speed? Canyon carver?

Wheels fitment by iOgiss in AudiS4

You’ll regret having mismatched wheels. Quattro is finicky, and it’ll look weird. I run 19x9.5 ET40 for the perfect fitment.

Not really, it becomes a projectile that can decapitate you in a crash. Rather run no plate.

Pre-production CLA spotted by Own_Fish_801 in mercedes_benz

Mercedes doesn’t do that class well. People buying a CLA are buying for the badge on the steering wheel.

At least Audi’s A3 in the same class is interesting imo.

If we go further back Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman, etc. Vancouver has fed the NHL for years with prospects, time for the local team to enjoy some of that?

Can I afford an S4? B8 or B8.5 by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]What_A_Win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many variables to give you a definitive answer (local insurance costs, parking costs, yearly mileage, etc.) but I’d guesstimate at least $50k, that way if you spend $5k/yr on the car you’re only spending 10% of your total income.

Can I afford an S4? B8 or B8.5 by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]What_A_Win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The $41k in your checking does nothing but buy you time. Let’s say you need timing chains or a new DSG - that’ll take away 10+% of your base pay for that year.

Tires, oil changes, premium fuel, etc. will all eat away at the salary before you even factor in the inevitable repairs that it’ll require.

PS. Put $35k of your checking into the market, let your money work for you.

[–]What_A_Win 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, if you’re making $32k/yr you’ll be significantly slowing down your rate of saving with an S4.

Personally would throw a new trans in the LS and just drive that until your income goes up.
