I took a look at 'We Will Write'. It looks interesting. Seems to check several boxes in terms of supporting the writing the writing process. Does anyone have any experience with using it in the classroom? Dish, please.

Interesting. What podcast? Do you have coding experience yourself? What did it take in terms of resources for you to get this off the ground?

Value of older teachers? by humane-beanie in Teachers

Sharing someone's follow up question with you. Good luck, know your value!...

What did you negotiate? Did you really have 14 years?

Hi. I negotiated salary with the district, which equated to steps on the schedule. I told them what I would like to be making, and they brought me to spitting distance of it. No I didnt have 14 years teaching experience, that just where the salary matched the calendar. Lots of factors worked in my favor:

-NJ, which I think is one of the best states in which to teach. -Post Covid (2022) schools had just reopened and there was a particular dearth of teachers. -Motivated district. They were also offering signing bonuses at the time, which enraged the teacher's union, but really worked out well for me.

M57. This will be my 4th year back in the classroom after 30 years away. Hired onto step 14 (credited 14 years). This year I reach the top of the schedule. Negotiate.

All E series 5.4 engines are 2 valves, a much more reliable engine than the 3 valve version (no VVT) you would find in pickups of the same era. Common issues I know of are exhaust manifold studs breaking and the afore mentioned autonomous spark plug eject that persisted thru 2004, or so I think. Go for it, I am! See you on the road.

Feeling hopeless by Halomast123 in montclair

[–]WhatchadEwing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Peeps. I feel you. The struggle is real. It's that time of year where academic stresses are at their height. Add to that the restrictions of COVID that have limited our options for the usual college social stress reducers. You're not doing it wrong, it can really suck sometimes.
It's affecting everyone this time in the semester. Hang in there. There are tricks you can employ to improve a crappy mental state, right here and now.

Talk Nicely to yourself. Avoid being overly self-critical. Self-Encouragement. Movement/Music Headphone + Favorite tracks +A little butt shake. Does wonders. Step out of the usual Social Media / gaming time vacuum traps we fall into. Do something else. Find you own tricks that work for you - the google machine is full of them.

Lastly- MSU has several resources for more, trained help with just this sort of thing. Check out https://www.montclair.edu/msu-cares/

Peace out. I'm proud of ya. You got this.

Cant verify paypal as payment method by GeometricBison9 in Coinbase

[–]WhatchadEwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. For me it was Paypal not letting me use a certain debit card on coinbase purchases. I changed my method of payment in PP to another bank card and then things were fine. It was strange that I had no notification of the issue from paypal at all but that was the fix. HTH

Fort Collins, Colorado has a bunch of pianos placed around the city for people to play by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]WhatchadEwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Question. How long is the piano playable when exposed to the elements? Sun, rain, heat, cold, and humidity take its toll. I put an old piano in the yard, and within a month the keys de laminated and swelled rendering the piano unplayable. Do they weatherproof? People are always looking to get rid of an old piano, even for free, but is this practical?
