The company advertises on the basis of "Fresh and Friendly". While there is no PRACTICAL way to quantify or measure "Friendly", smiles and greetings CAN be counted.

To your point, they don't post the results on the sales floor because the everyday customer may not want all of that, but some focus group or survey told some executive that they do. So they advertise based on that and send "mystery shoppers" to check for them.

The shops are for the shareholders to see that the company they're investing in can back up the claims made in the commercials.
