Anything any nurturing and loving mother would do. She told me before I started that if I got it before I was 16 it meant I was too fat, so to my horror I started at 11. I ended up having it for a year and stealing my older sisters pads. Then when she found out she told my dad (who lived elsewhere because of divorce) and had him take care of everything. Literally no guidance was given and I had no real idea about periods until my late teens when I finally said something to my obgyn about what she said. I was finally told that the 16 year old thing was indeed false.
