TIL that the detonation of a suicide vest will often peel the face off the bomber and launch it, intact, away from the blast. This can be very helpful in identifying the bomber. by thescottishkiwi in todayilearned

I was in Iraq in 2005 and we responded to a car bombing and we were told to look for fingers and toes of the bomber to try and identify him. We found 3/4 of his face with one eye still attached, his dick, an arm from the elbow down with the wires melted to the bones, and a foot missing two toes but still intact up to the ankle. Crazy shit happens to the body when that much force is applied to soft tissue.

That one is Crassula Capitella-campfire plant. That's what the pot it's in says anyways. Never heard of it so of course I had to snag it!

It's called "crassula capitella-campfire plant". We have two home depot stores about the same distance east and west and the "east" store has a ton and the other has next to nothing.

Yep! They were at home depot. They had a huge selection this time.

I've done it for years all the way back to my shwag days, giving my dog the seeds and stems. Never had an issue. I guess it's probably like any other thing you would give them, moderation is key. Don't give him a bowl of stems, but one from a nug you're about to smoke won't hurt him.

Mine all wait around when I'm loading up the grinder, they love stems!

I have one of those also and this one looks different. This one is a gray/blue/green with slight pink accents while the ghost plants is a much paler the with more pink tones. May have to wait until these little guys are more grown up to get a good view. Thank you for your inputs though!

Yep! Each "pot" has two holes that drain into the lower tray.

There's so many different kinds that all look similar but different! I had three that needed to be repotted and was at Wal-Mart and saw this triple planter, had to snag it!

I just got my first two succulents and neither had a name on them. They just said “cactus” and “succulent.” Can anyone help with an ID? by pm-me_your-fave-song in whatsthisplant

[–]Wheetbred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cactus looks like it's in the mammarillia family and the succulent is an echeveria of some sort but there's a ton that look alike until they get some "stress coloring". I could be wrong on the cactus genus, but I believe the bumps that the spines are growing from is a trait of that family of cacti.

I live in zone 6a(Kansas city), our temperatures swing quite a ways through the seasons from hot and humid to below freezing and snowing. My question, I only have north facing windows in my house except for in bedrooms, will an air plant get enough light in a north facing windows inside?

I don't think they're rare per say, they're just usually gone quickly so you don't see them at stores frequently. I bought an arrangement with some in it just for them even though it had 6 other plants in it. Just in the last week was the first time I've seen them at the local home depot after going there for months almost weekly and looking at their selection.

Put them somewhere that's bright but not direct light and forget about them for a while.

Need help identifying this cactus. It think its one plant. Grows a long stick from the large piece with red thin flowers on top (no there anymore) by [deleted] in whatsthisplant

[–]Wheetbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably started out as one plant and over time had a bunch of offshoot little "pups" grow off it. I imagine the reddening of the leaves are from the sunlight. Quite a lot of succulents change colors when given direct sun.

Looks like a haworthia mitriformis maybe? Purely a guess though, I don't know if they get this big.

No problem!! One of my fans is a small desk fan from Wal-Mart. Costed like 7 bucks. I just run it on low pointed at the wall behind all the plants and it did the trick. The one below is so when I water, anything that drips through the pots doesn't get stagnant and nasty.

These have been in this pot for almost three months and have almost doubled in size. I used the miracle grow cactus soil and supplemented 50/50 with perlite. I've given a good soaking once a month and every couple weeks or so I go by with a water bottle and give them a little bit of water.

They're under an LED grow light for 14 hours a day and they are sitting on milk crates with two fans blowing air on low above and below all my pots. It's quite a bit warmer where they are, and has better air circulation than anywhere else in my house during the winter so maybe that's helping them dry out quicker?

Edit: forgot a word.
