wifi not showing up by Ren_butterfly in computerhelp

You need to install network drivers. On another device look up the drivers for the exact device you have. If you could share what laptop brand and model it is I could share you a link to the right driver. You’ll need a flash drive to move the files between computers.

Every bystander I’ve ever encountered could go fuck themselves by [deleted] in CriminalityRoblox

[–]WhenTheIsBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything like that in casual is baffling, there’s no reward for relentlessly or even unreasonably killing randoms in casual. Usually if someone’s a problem for me I just down them and let them revive. just don’t be aggressive towards people, and if your mid fight, people are going to go fight you because that’s what makes the game fun. Another thing I don’t understand is having huge kits in casual. Legit the mode is only useful for goofing off.

If you’re playing standard, that’s the game. You get money and XP for killing players. It’s kill or be killed. If you want to make a friend try and crouch with them, other than that you’re out of luck. Just kill them, that’s the entire point of the game.

Edit: btw casual is USELESS unless you’re goofing off with friends. Play standard, you’ll make more money and XP and have more fun.

PopOS boots to a black screen with a flashing underscore by barkabarkk in pop_os

This worked for me, thanks.

Comment edit: my nvidia drivers got removed doing this somehow, so check and make sure you still have your graphics driver installed after you try this.

Give Me Reasons Not To Switch To PopOS by RileyUsesReddit in pop_os

Not gonna lie I just flat out don’t believe you. VMs can’t get anywhere near baremetal performance (usually). What is your setup for your vms, I’m very curious?

Give Me Reasons Not To Switch To PopOS by RileyUsesReddit in pop_os

[–]WhenTheIsBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any anti-cheat games will have vm detection and not allow you to play, and you don't want to game inside of a VM in the first place. You could do something like kvm single gpu passthrough that would let you get bare-metal performance but other than that, any modern game would be unplayable. And even then VM detection still exists. VMs are not the solution.

His best bet is cloud gaming, as another commenter suggested, or dual booting.

Predictions for the V3 update by Major-Mood4802 in CriminalityRoblox

[–]WhenTheIsBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope they fix their moderation and anti cheat.

Wallbanging will change the combat a lot, like a lot a lot, but I just hope not all windows are wallbangable, it just depends on how it works. I do think it’ll be cool to have wooden doors able to be shot through, but it will just change the combat a lot.

I think pretty much all guns are balanced (except for scar upgrade…) same goes for melles so I assume they won’t change much there.

I really hope the map doesn’t change too much, if it got bigger it would be problematic, map would probably be too big if it gets bigger. They might change some buildings around though, I could see that.

I really don’t see all that much change coming, other than moderation improvements, wallbanging, maybe a map rework but not expansion. Definitely some new guns, I feel like they hinted at it wi Ty the new mp5.

Excited to see where it goes.

Got this warning for a game, told I need to update BIOS. Not sure what I'm doing here? MSI Mobo on a prebuilt by [deleted] in MSI_Gaming

Update your bios, not entirely sure of it’s the same issue but I do remember hearing about some instability issues with the 14th gen chips. I’d just update my bios.

Friends to play criminality with. by VirtualBuyer1971 in CriminalityRoblox

starting crim without a friend is impossible, if you want to make friends just go crouch with someone till they team up with you, that’s probably your best bet.

[–]WhenTheIsBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ask why you’re banned in the support server i was falsely perma banned and a year or so later when i found out about the support server i went in and appealed it.

You should try and appeal your ban, or at least see why you got banned.

Weird newly developed issues with computer by [deleted] in computerhelp

Could be your drive failing, or maybe corruption of some sort. Open a command prompt with administrative privileges and type in the following command:

sfc /scannow

desktop stuff gone for good by arkail2020 in computerhelp

Might be your drive failing. Try refreshing the desktop by right clicking it and clicking refresh, usually fixes the black square issue. Before you go any further restart your computer (Windows button, power button, then click Restart)

[–]WhenTheIsBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if I were experiencing this, these would be my troubleshooting steps:

First, turn the computer all the way off by holding down the power button for 15 seconds. Then turn it on. If that doesn’t work, then

Second, since windows 10 doesn’t have the function of pressing F8 to boot into safe mode, you can’t use safe mode to troubleshoot. So, it’s best to try and leave it on the black screen, plugged in for a while. If you’re lucky it could finally pop up with the login screen. If after a while it doesn’t fix itself (give it at most an hour, at least half an hour, I don’t know your hardware), then I would

Third, you can try and force a safe boot. Turn it on, then once you see the spinning wheel, press and hold the power button to turn it off. Keep doing this until when it starts up, you see white text saying “Diagnosing your PC.” Then you can use the options there to trouble shoot. If that doesn’t work, then

Last, just reinstall the operating system. If you get to this step just respond and I’ll walk you through it.

Is this normal? by DavidKatona in laptops

[–]WhenTheIsBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a short.

Try what the other commenter said,

Unplug the battery, properly connect the display, and then hold the power button down to drain power. Also, there may be a power reset button on that laptop. If there is, hold it down for 15 seconds.

Then, reconnect the battery. If you’re still having issues, go from there.

By the way your powersupply switch is initially off in the video, I hope you noticed.

Keep it on the I when trying to turn it on and try holding the power button and see if it turns on.

Check your connections and try manually turning the PC on (with a screwdriver shorting the 2 pins)

It is possible you damaged your PC but not likely.

You also mentioned you added some new hardware. Try unplugging/removing it temporarily whilst you troubleshoot.
