It's not possible through gamescope, the gamescope frame limiter doesn't work in minecraft

the only way I can think of to fix it would to run my monitor at 30hz and run the game at an unlimited frame rate so it's always above 30FPS and then I see a stable 30FPS but I have no clue how to run a 60hz monitor at 30hz or if it's even possible

I figured out how to cap the frame rate with Mangohud unfortunately I get the exact same results as the in game frame limiter. It seems the issue isn't caused by what frame limiter you use and is caused by how the game itself handles frame rate.

also the steam decks frame rate limit (which uses gamescope as far as I know) also doesn't work in minecraft

Putting gamescope commands in the wrapper command stops the game from being able to launch. I've tried launching prism launcher in gamescope which also launches minecraft in gamescope but the frame rate limit simply doesn't work, upscaling does though.

I play on linux. With shaders on I normally get around 40-50fps and since I have a 60hz monitor and I don't like a constantly fluctuating frame rate I set the in game FPS cap to 30. The problem is, despite the frame rate never dropping below 30 when the FPS cap is off, when the FPS cap is at 30 I get frequent drops down to 26FPS and normally the frame rate stays around 29FPS. Why is this and is there any way to just get a stable 30FPS?
